Otherwise Beijing has no desire to risk its economy by pushing an Iranian theater war—especially when China has jailed a million Uyghur Muslims in forced labor camps.
Dr Hanson nails it with this essay - if only we has a president and administration that didn't love Iran more than they love the USA.

Has anyone noticed that VDH seems to be all over the media these days. Normally we would get something from him about every two weeks now its several times a day.
I think its great.
With what army? These countries combined military's would not have a chance against Iran.
Sorry, but this is a lot of wishful thinking on the part of Hanson. I don’t see the political will in the US to engage in more major conflicts around the globe.
USA military forces were deployed to the region to prevent Israel from attacking Iran.
Israel will NEVER allow Iran to get an atomic weapon. If that happens I suspect an EMP device over Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria would be the first order of business.
Then the wrath of God, end of the world for the muzzies will take place..... and the world will be better off.
Iran’s biggest vulnerability is, of all things, its water dams. Iran has 523 major dams, the larger of which provide essential hydroelectric power. Destroying just 4 or 5 could knock out power and water to their cities, and pretty well wipe out their agriculture.
The absolute worst fiasco of the Carter Administration was deposing the Shah.

No doubt about it. And what’s so frustrating is how obvious of a mistake it was — just a total failure of basic judgement in decision making.

Our record in democratizing Middle Eastern countries is not the great. Neither is our record in getting out of our military engagements over there. The government has been the boy who cried “Wolf!” too often to get man people to go along with it.
It is more like a Novelette and can be read in one sitting.
I think VDH has misjudged how incompetent our leadership is in Washington at all levels including the military. Reagan or Trump isn’t president and we have the likes of a Milley in charge, paper pushing woke idiots.
