Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is now signaling that he supports Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) as the next Speaker of the House. As we reported just under two weeks ago, McCarthy was ousted by House members in a Motion to Vacate by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). As my colleague, Ward Clark wrote on Friday, Jordan defeated Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA) to secure the nomination:
In an earlier vote, Speaker candidate and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) won the nomination but then failed to secure enough votes to guarantee a majority on the House floor, ultimately resulting in his decision to withdraw from the race.
Jordan won the vote against Scott by a margin of 124-81, meaning that not all lawmakers were present for the vote. [...]
....[T]he House of Representatives has adjourned; no further votes will be taken today. As of this writing, the final vote has not been scheduled.
McCarthy's words of support for Jordan came during an interview on the “Cats and Cosby” radio show with host John Catsimatidis.

He said that he "support[s] Jim Jordan fully, Jim was a great ally to me. He worked hard. We came into Congress together." McCarthy looked toward the vote next week, noting that 65 votes are still needed for Jordan to cross the 217 threshold:
We’ve got some people not there yet. We just get together, work a little longer and we can have a new Speaker in Jim Jordan next week.
The report on his comments mentioned that he shared some shorthand on what the secret ballot voting can be compared to:
The former Speaker referenced Friday’s secret ballot vote, calling it what the public “would think is the primary … inside the conference.”
In the wake of McCarthy yielding the Speaker's gavel, Jordan received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
We'll keep you posted on when a vote for Speaker is scheduled in the coming days.

Now it's time for half of FR to reject "Deep State Swamper Globalist Warmonger Jim Jordan" ...
RE: Now it’s time for half of FR to reject “Deep State Swamper Globalist Warmonger Jim Jordan” ...
Look, if one rejects any GOP nominee for Speaker ( not just Jim Jordan ) because of this or that complaint against him/her, then please — I want to read that rejector’s personal preference for the Speakership AND WHY.
Interesting times to have a demented POTUS and no Speaker of the House. Matt Gaetz is very proud of his stunt.
Exactly, McCarthy should still be in there giving Biden everything he wants like he did as GOP caucus leader. Stability!

You just gave me a great laugh! Your comment is perfect, and explains the typical childish mentality we see here at times from a few.
I’m more optimistic than you though. You say they are 50%.
According to my estimate, they represent about 10% of FR.
Again thanks for your post, excellent! :)
He LOVES every second of it.
I hope this did not “cost” the Conservatives anything.
What does Rep. Jim Jordan have to do to succeed in becoming the next Speaker, or is it moot to even ask?

Beware the support of McCarthy... Particularly were Jordan’s vote to fail.
For a guy who was in congress 16 years, he has never authored a bill signed into law. Ever! That’s quite an accomplishment. Lol.
He should be! This should have been done to Paul RYNO in Trump’s first term! God Bless Gaetz for getting rid of the final “young gun” RINO POS traitor!
WTH do these punk-a’d RINO’s have a problem with? America first? Holding pinkos accountable? Making Americans proud? What? There are too many disgusting pigs at our trough.
The house is supposed to hold the purse. So I guess they can’t keep giving Bidung everything he wants with little to no concessions. Real bummer.
I’m not thrilled with Jordan because I don’t think he has the temperament to be that far up in line to be president. He seems too apt to ignore problems that are inconvenient. He was a wrestling coach and he ignored the problem with the doctor examining these young men’s genitals for things that had nothing to do with their genitals. I feel as though he failed a duty of care there. Then there was the raped 9-year-old whose story he dismissed as a lie.
He seems a bit light in the loafers as far as experience with foreign policy and the economy is concerned. He was also given the chairmanship for the house judiciary committee in January despite his lack of relevant experience trying cases. That promotion was already beyond his level of competence.
I would prefer a veteran, preferably someone who has been in command. I would prefer someone with foreign policy and economic experience (not that they have just read about it). I would prefer someone who knows how to function in congress beyond hostage taking and brinksmanship.
” He was a wrestling coach and he ignored the problem with the doctor examining these young men’s genitals for things that had nothing to do with their genitals. “
The joke about the school doctor at my boarding school was:
“Sore throat, huh? Well take down your pants and let’s have a look at you.”
