Ron DeSantis mocks Donald Trump for failing to stop ‘stolen’ 2020 election

'Why didn't Trump do something about it?' An incredulous Ron DeSantis is yet again addressing the former President’s contention that the 2020 election was “stolen,” saying that’s an “untenable position.”

Speaking at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics’ “Politics and Eggs” event, the Florida Governor didn’t hold back when asked to evaluate Donald Trump’s ongoing contention that he didn’t lose fairly to Joe Biden.

“If that is true, he was the sitting President of the United States and let that happen to him. I would never let that happen. As Governor, would I just sit there and let something like that happen?”

DeSantis wondered “why didn’t Trump do something about it.”

“And if you didn’t do something in 2020, how are you going to solve that problem? As a private citizen rage tweeting from Mar-A-Lago? There’s just no way. So I think it’s an untenable position that he’s taken,” he added.

Agreed. He’s destroyed his rep because he was in such a rush to run.

>>”Ron DeSantis is playing the “heal” to get Trump elected.”

No. That makes no sense. Why would someone choose to hurt his career like that? What’s to be gained? Think about it. How does this help Trump get elected? And if you can give me a reason, tell me why the same thing couldn’t be accomplished with a genuine Uniparty candidate rather than someone pretending to be one.

Trump and Nixon may have something in common; both get or got to run three times as the nominee. Only FDR and W.J. Bryan did that on the other side.

And this is the guy who claims that he’ll destroy the deep state? Claims 2020 was fair, but says he’s the man to drain the swamp? You’ve been exposed, Ron. Now get off the stage. You’re only embarrassing yourself.

“Maybe Trump shouldn’t have filled his entire administration with Papa and Jr Bush’s JV team who never wanted him to be president to begin with?”

Great point, but many in this thread just don’t have the intellectual honesty to consider it.

It’s the same issue with the House Speaker. There aren’t any good choices but many on this thread don’t have the intellectual honesty to admit it.

Trump had to staff his administration with the same type of GOPe swampers that are available to be House Speaker.

He’s being indicted in Georgia for even daring to bring it up on a phone conversation? Where have you been ?
And by the way I believe DeSantis lost his debate to Crist. Crist made him look like a damn fool when he asked him if he would tell the people in Florida if he was going to up and run for president if he got elected. And yep…that’s what he did. The folks down here have no use for him…he’s done.

If 2020 was stolen, it's because Trump went on vacation and left the garage door open.

Stolen or not the 2020 election is one that was abnormal for the USA.
With the Lock Down in place many places still locked down voting
was a disaster of an event. People were at home, nothing to do and mail
voting was used in places. IMO many voters that didn't normally vote took
the mail ballot and voted. We lived in an area with a Mall complex. It was
still closed but they opened up a section for voting that had voters coming in
from three counties. The Sears doors were right there but they were locked as
businesses weren't open yet.

He had to run because we can’t stand four more years of a Dhimmicrat President.

What did Trump, his admin, or his campaign do prior to 2020 election to insure election integrity? Showering the states in COVID relief funds and endorsing shutdowns counts toward insuring election fraud, not countering it.

And understand. Ron’s not blaming Trump for not stopping the election from being stolen. He’s already said he doesn’t believe it was. But like the typical politician who wants to have it both ways, he deliberately phrased it to try to say different things to two seperate audiences - 1) people who don’t think the election was stolen and 2) - people who think it was.

To group 1 he’s saying “You lost fair and square, otherwise you wouldn’t have allowed it be stolen”.

To group 2 he’s saying “The election was stolen and Trump did nothing about it”.

Typical lawyer-speak. Ron “catch me if you can. I never said that” DeSantis.

“He’s destroyed his rep because he was in such a rush to run.”

Maybe giving him a little benefit of the doubt ... I wonder how much of this candidacy was him, or his wife, and/or TDS donor pressure. But if his heart wasn’t in it, and if wasn’t able to hold his own against them, then he would be a weak POTUS.

Re: "Failing to stop the 'stolen' 2020 election"

I made exactly the same point in 2020, before and after the election, which I personally believe was stolen, but I have no proof.

Trump did absolutely NOTHING consequential for four years to prevent election fraud in 2020.

Trump's effort AFTER the fraud was equally pathetic.

The GOP's fraud prevention effort since 2020 is also pathetic.

If the Republican Party cannot prevent fraud, why do we even bother to run our candidates in Blue and Toss Up states?

Trump 2nd term could equal scorched earth albeit unlikely with no 3rd term to be held over his head.

Mark my words. If Trump gets a second term, he's gonna go full libtard.

All he really wants is to be loved by the Manhattan social scene, not the Walmart rubes who vote for him. Those aren't his people.

You’re an idiot. Voting is handled by the states. Trump had no authority to due anything to change it. All he could do was go to court AFTER the deed was done
