House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Friday reiterated the need for bipartisanship amid the race for Speaker — but suggested the Republicans’ most recent choice wasn’t the answer.
House Republicans delivered Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) the second GOP nomination for the leadership role on Friday — a day after first choice and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) withdrew from the race.

Come on Republicans, do something!
“reiterated the need for bipartisanship”
That’s the last thing any Democrat wants.
Unless the Democrats make a deal with eight or so moderate Republicans, I don’t see them assisting with the election of the next Speaker.
SHUT IT DOWN THEN.
All of this mess lands at Hakeem's feet along with Gaetz. Without the colluding Democrats, McCarthy is still Speaker and the People's business continues.
We have a majority, IF we have THE majority.
The people’s business wasn’t being done with McCarthy as speaker.
The Deep States business was being done.....
The. They should have helped the prior speaker…. But they have one brain cell between them.
Any Republican who would rather vote for Jeffries instead of Jordan is a extremist on the left and should be primaried out.
The people's business wasn't being done. McCarthy was working with Democrats, raising the debt limit and passing the CR.
You have it backwards. The mess was McCarthy working with Democrats.
The Party only has to turn a couple of the Republicans who are Republican so they can get elected in Republican districts but are basically deep staters or Democrats in ghillie suits.
If this continues we are going to wind up with Party speaker and all the committee investigations the Republicans have initiated will be cut off. The Party will have complete control and the mensheviks will vote wholesale with the bolsheviks.
Take your anti Trump and anti MAGA disrupter posts and place them where the sun doesn’t shine.
Exactly Kevin the cuck gave the rats what they wanted and he thought they would protect him in return. Fool.
Hakeem is a speaker in absentia.......Pelosi had to come up to Capitol Hill (after venerating
Diane Feinstein 24/7) since Jeffries had done nothing vis a vis the Middle East bomb-a-thon.
It was enlightening to actually hear that every republican speaker from John Boehner had to be approved by Nancy Pelosi. We only suspected it, but it is good to have it out in the open.
The mess was bidness-as-usual McCarthy.
With the passing of each hour, the likelihood of Democrats and moderate Republicans coming together to select the next Speaker of the House grows.
Somebody needs to publicly corner Jefferies and ask him if BLM is a terrorist organization for supporting Hamas
