Incredible news: Jim Jordan just won the GOP conference nomination for Speaker of the House!
He received 152 votes on the secret ballot but he will need 217 votes on the floor of the House next week to become Speaker.
Please encourage your congressman to vote for Jim Jordan!

Jordan isn’t my first, my second, or my third choice but he’ll do. Much, much better than Scalise.
WRONG!
Actually, Liz Cheney wants JJ to LOSE!
I’d bet you now realize it wasn’t a very smart thing to say.
Thank you very much, RandFan!
No, she doesn’t want JJ.
She hates him.
Since you don't know, do neither. Simply urge him/her/it to support Jordan in the floor vote.
No she doesn’t!
United we stand, divided we fall.
Always true. That is why Democrats remain in power longer than Republicans. Democrats get to make more liberal leaning laws.
What’s the job - spend more money that we don’t have?

From the Texas Tribune: Jim Jordan snags more Texas support in troubled bid for House Speaker
U.S. Reps. Brian Babin, Nathaniel Moran, Dan Crenshaw and August Pfluger all said Friday they supported Jordan after initially backing Scalise. Reps. John Carter and Pat Fallon refused to say how they voted Friday after publicly backing Scalise earlier this week...-PJMeanwhile, members of the ultraconservative House Freedom Caucus always tended toward Jordan, who was a cofounder of the far-right group. U.S. Reps. Chip Roy, Michael Cloud and Keith Self, who all fought for greater influence for the far right during January’s tumultuous speaker race, all supported Jordan from the beginning. Other far-right members, including allies of former President Donald Trump, like Troy Nehls and Ronny Jackson, also backed Jordan.
Though Scalise and Jordan each had a few fervent backers, the majority of Texas members said the two candidates were materially the same on policy. They said the most important factor was who could unify the fractured conference and they would back whoever had the support of the majority of the conference.
U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, who initially backed Scalise, said before Friday’s vote that he would back anyone who could fill the spot and wrangle House Republicans, saying time was running out on key legislative priorities.
I’m shocked he’s doing the right thing.
Well done
> The GOP has to get unified to wrap this thing up.
Absolutely correct. Jordan WON the conference vote handily.
No excuse now. They need to unify.
WE’VE BEEN TOLD THIS FOR YEARS with the RINOS....
Now the shoe is on the other foot.
I wonder what will happen on the floor.....
That’s quite amusing. I admire it. A lot of people I know won’t confront politicians as they have an answer for everything or are too shy.
I’d call my congress critter, but she is Annie Kuster, a leftwing loon.
I live in southern New Hampshire and the assholes in Keene and the Peterborough area keep voting her in.
Living here is not unlike living in eastern Oregon.
“Absolutely not,” Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), a Scalise ally, said when asked if she’d back Jordan. “Yesterday in conference, he gave the most disgraceful, ungracious — I can’t call it a concession speech — of all time. There were gasps in the room.”
Wagner then recalled another moment that lost Jordan her support. It took place during a private meeting between Scalise and Jordan, less than an hour after the majority leader won the House GOP’s internal speaker ballot. Wagner wasn’t in the room, but she remained outside in Scalise’s office and took in the immediate aftermath.
According to Wagner and other House Republicans briefed on the meeting, Jordan said to Scalise: “You get one ballot. And when you go down, you will nominate me.”
She said Scalise pushed back, arguing he had won by the conference rules, to which Jordan replied: “America wants me,” before storming out the door.

I see you didn’t say ONE, critical WORD, to the person who I replied to (and, who posted that incorrect statement, about Cheney and Jordan), about their being ‘really stupid....really stupid’, lala plata.
I believe I’ve asked you NOT to post to me, again, plata, with your own inane and rude posts. Jumping in to criticize, without following the actual reply trails.
If I haven’t previously asked you, consider this a request, now.
Thank you, dear Syncro, for your polite reply.
If they used hundres of millions of mail in ballots and huge collection dumpsters, this crap would be over now and we’d have a speaker of the house. It might be a RAT turd roller but at least the job would be done.
