Incredible news: Jim Jordan just won the GOP conference nomination for Speaker of the House!
He received 152 votes on the secret ballot but he will need 217 votes on the floor of the House next week to become Speaker.
Please encourage your congressman to vote for Jim Jordan!

I called mine this a.m.
I would have no problem with Jordan as speaker.
However, since the GOP held a SECRET ballot, I do not know if my GOP Rep supported Jordan or opposed Jordan. So I don’t know if I should yell at my Rep or praise him.
Mine is Eli Crane and he is down for Jordan.
The 152-55 vote asked Republicans if they would support Jordan on a floor vote.
Just drop him a message asking to support Jordan on the floor next week.

152 is less than 217. I don’t think Jordan will get any Democrat votes.
I suspect the distant history of these times may show American dithered in various and numerous naval-gazing, wheel-spinning, time-wasting minor squabbles over how to best line their pockets, as the world decended into madness — and dragged America right along with it.
...and they will all claim they had NO idea.

I don’t know what to believe... I read one congresswoman said she heard Jordan tell Scalise that “Americans want me”. Sounds kind of arrogant if you ask me, and this turned off some of the Scalise voters. But that’s a dirty swamp place. People are mean in DC. A different breed. Given that, Jordan seems alright to me, focused and dedicated and eloquent but he may not be able to heal the wound quickly. But eventually they will have to figure it out.
FWIW I think this is good for Democracy. The parties should fight internally. We rarely see Democrats fight like this. They always put party first. Though maybe this Israel war will fracture them a bit; knowing them the dissenters will stay silent for the most part. Biden has spoken so they will follow. They will all vote for Jeffreys 100% on every ballot. No challenger. Because that’s what their party demands of them. That’s not Democracy that’s fealty.
Call my dem congress critters? Nope. They will do the opposite.
Anybody that can’t get basically unanimous from the GOP is doomed. The dems will vote against them just to let the GOP spin on their own dumbness.
