A team of American military veterans with the nonprofit Project Dynamo is on the ground in Israel with plans to start rescuing Americans trapped in the warzone.
Bryan Stern, a U.S. Army and Navy vet and international security consultant who formed the donor-funded rescue operation during the bungled American withdrawal from Afghanistan, said his case managers in the U.S. have “been awake for three days just fielding hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of requests from Americans who are stuck.”

Stern expressed frustration with the Biden administration, which he believes should be taking the lead on getting Americans out of harm’s way. “Project Dynamo shouldn’t be rescuing any American in any warzone, ever,” he said.

Their strategy (and it is an effective strategy) is to use asymmetrical warfare (aka guerilla operations) to weaken Israel to the point at which someone like Iran would attack and finish the war.
Operation Dynamo was Churchill’s codename for the Dunkirk evacuation.

It seems ludicrous to apply that policy uniformly in all cases, but with all the U.S. airlines canceling flights to and from Israel it seems that the government should do what it can to discourage Americans who aren’t in danger from using government resources in place of a civilian flight.
This is State Department policy for all evacuations - and it has been for a long time.

I hope they were issued something like cyanide pills. Being captured by Hamas would not be pretty for an American rescuer. Beheading with a dull knife (probably on TV) would be assured.
