On Wednesday, Netanyahu and one of the leading opposition figures, Benny Gantz, announced an agreement to form an emergency government for the length of the war.
'Netanyahu's days are numbered'
"The presence of Benny Gantz in the government will slightly alleviate the pressure on the Prime Minister," said Daniel Bensimon, an Israeli political expert and former Labour Party MP.
"It will reduce the tension but it won't do anything to alter the fundamentals: Netanyahu's days are numbered and he knows it. He will not survive this crisis. His political career is finished.
"What happened (on Saturday) is unprecedented since the creation of the state in 1948.
"There will be an inquiry. It will be terrible. After that, he will be thrown into the dustbin of history with this shameful stain on his record," Bensimon said, "and he knows it well. That's why his back is against the wall."
Nor have Netanyahu's pre-war problems gone away.
Once the fighting is over, the protests against his judicial reforms that divided Israeli society for the past ten months are expected to be even more widespread than ever.
According to Reuven Hazan, professor of political science at the University of Jerusalem, that is because Netanyahu's entire approach towards Hamas has failed.
"Public opinion will make him pay a price when this is all over.
"His approach was flawed. Hamas has been in power in Gaza since 2007, Netanyahu was elected in 2009, they have been in charge almost simultaneously. And it's during that period that the Islamist threat has grown so much," Hazan told AFP.

A country should not be run by a judicial junta.
Some people use every crisis for their own ends. Some people want to deflect from their own failures. Some people are despicable.
>>Netanyahu was headhunted to be an economic consultant[41] for the Boston Consulting Group in Boston, Massachusetts, working at the company between 1976 and 1978. At the Boston Consulting Group, he was a colleague of Mitt Romney, with whom he formed a lasting friendship.

Israeli's protest Netanyahu's judicial reforms for 18 weeks.
It’s the same reason that the Tory party keeps getting re-elected in Britain: The Labor Party is so far left that the average voter just goes with the more rational party.
Bibi can survive this, but only if he completely crushes Hamas. That remains to be seen.
The left wing of Israeli politics has renedered the Israeli parliamentary system unable to make and keep effective policies. The left in Israel has always been the party of appeasement and giving land to the Muslims.
It is laughable to claim it was Likud policies which caused the recent attack and massacres out of Gaza.
Hamas does not differentiate between leftist Jews in Israel and conservative Jews in Israel. It wants them all dead.
Nothing could be clearer from the attack on the "peace" festival, where Hamas killed hundreds of unarmed leftists or non-political Jews and others.
Expected.
Israeli intel has been caught completely unawares by the Hamas surprise attack and their military was incredibly slow to respond. I was reading the story of a lady in a kibbutz on the Gaza Border; she said she kept waiting for the Army rescue and the IDF showed up seven hours later in a country the size of New Jersey. I saw a Hamas video yesterday about their easy storming of an IDF border fort; several of the IDF soldiers, instead of fighting, were hiding in the safe room, cowering on the floor and easy captures. In most democracies with a parliamentary system, this would be the end of the premiership for Netanyahu for basic incompetence.
Agreed. It is the leftist infiltration of Israel to which I’ve ascribed responsibility for this attack and their pattern of appeasement which common sense dictates greater vulnerability.
And once again I cite my inability to suspend disbelief and label the assault the result of an ‘intel failure’...
Here we go with the anti-Bibi articles and rumors.
Back to the wall like Churchill. Probably won’t run again anyway. Can anyone imagine lefty and Hillary-like Tzipi Livni in charge?
Netanyahu isn’t the person he was 20-30 years ago., and not in a good way. I’m so glad Trump told us about him last night during his speech at the 47 Club.
What did he say?
I don’t think Bibi cares about anything except survival of Israel and it’s peeps. Political survival might assist in that goal, but isn’t his goal, it seems from this distance.
I’m gobsmacked there’s resistance to his attempts to disallow SC (liberal) justices to choose their replacements which guarantees liberalism will reign havoc forever.
I often wonder why signs like that are written in English.
And some people named Biden are all three!........
Yes. Imagine a Supreme Court where all the judges are Hillary Clinton, and she picks all her replacements. Not only that, but she gets to veto any law she desires at any time for any reason.
That is what the Left wants to keep in Israel.
To influence USA and European democracies. To do so to use their influence as leverage for the left in Israel.
