I think it’s criminal that they were not already in place.
They need a Constitutional Convention, adding the right to own and bear arms.
Being purchased? They don’t have that many in general inventory? Yikes.
Do they not have stockpiles of old FALs, Galils, M1 carbines, and CAR-15s?

Um, I don’t believe Israel has a formal Constitution. Might make having a Constitutional Convention tough. Don’t know for sure though. I am NO expert on the structure of Israeli government. Any Freeper know?
Geez...some kind of standardization of ammo would be nice. 5.56 would probably be best for civilian forces. Maybe a 7.62 designated marksman outfit.

I have thought for years that Israel maintained an armed citizenry, rather on the order of Switzerland, and with far more cause. I’m almost certain that was once true, but obviously went by the board if it was. Frankly, I’m surprised.
FAL would be the only thing they need 7.62 for. The Galil, CAR, Tavor, all use 5.56. The Tavor I believe uses STANAG mags, so it will interchange with the CAR, and several other rifles.

Yes. Ought to be a million around the country with 1,000 rounds with each rifle. Everybody there spent time in the IDF and knows their way around the weapon.
