"System Update" host Glenn Greenwald looks into an article from the New York Times warning that Russian disinformation could undermine the U.S. effort in Ukraine:
GLENN GREENWALD: Here's an article from the New York Times, and you're going to see so many of these articles. We've already seen so many of them, they are going to come one after the next. This is a particularly vivid one that I think is really worth looking at because it is just so flagrant, in terms of how it functions, in terms of the manipulative and deceitful nature of what this instrument is.
Here's the New York Times, look at this headline: Putin's Next Target: U.S. Support For Ukraine, Officials Say
So right away, let's just observe the fact that the entire article is based on this phrase, "Officials Say." So what that means is you have people inside the U.S. government, who work in the White House, the Pentagon, the NSA, the CIA, and the FBI -- "officials" -- and they're saying something. What are they saying? "Putin's next target is U.S. support for Ukraine." That the Kremlin is going to start targeting America with Russian disinformation in order to erode support for the war in Ukraine.
And the entire article, newspapers are supposed to report events in the world, this is not an event in the world. This is a message that the New York Times was dispatched to deliver that came from U.S. "Officials."

I encourage everyone to go to the link and read the entire article. You recognize each instance he points out as examples of the CIA setting a narrative for the democrat supporters to parrot.
Although not really a new development -- Hearst was manipulating the public back at the time of the Spanish-American War -- but this stuff has become far more blatant in recent decades.
One used to have the opinion that the News consisted of "Here's what happened yesterday". Reporting like that was based on facts, right? But now the News is almost completely a matter of: "Here's what we want you to think about stuff". No facts required for that at all. It's all manipulation all the time, and inconvenient stuff that goes against The Narrative is just "debunked" or dismissed with a "No Evidence" sneer.
Like we didn’t know that. Like we haven’t known that for decades. Nothin’ gets past GG.
Don’t the “officials” have the guts to come out in the open and say it or are they fake?
Nature abhors a vacuum. NYT abhors a vacuum. All media abhor a vacuum.
‘
We need to repeatedly point out that Biden’s energy policy of high prices, low supply finances Putin’s aggression.
Under Trump prices were low and Putin could not finance his war.
Remember the choice of butter or bullets?
Our choice is oil or bullets.
We need to repeatedly publicize that.
We Freepers know that an article including “officials say” is not news, but, unfortunately, half the country thinks it is news. These people include those who read subsequent articles, which just leave out the “officials say” phrase.
Often the subsequent articles say, “according to the New York Times“. The next articles leave that part off as well. Soon the completely fabricated statement is all over the Internet as fact, readily available anytime anyone searches for the topic.
…. Just another dishonest way the left wins. It is infuriating.
Let’s play “Match the Alphabet Agency to the Network”!
ABC, NBC, CBS, NYT, WP, LAT, FB, X, BG, WSJ...
CIA, FBI, DIA, USAID, ATF, NSA, TSA, HS,
Quote from the beginning of the Holocaust Encyclopedia entry about the role of the press in WWII Germany:
“The Nazis used propaganda to win the support of millions of Germans. Censorship helped to suppress ideas that the Nazis saw as threatening.”
The summary: “We’re all in this thing together.”
I believe NYT’s is the CIA’s go to mouthpiece. They use FB as their social media site now that they can’t trust X to be as reliable as it has in the past.
DOJ uses WaPo and WSJ, with carefully selected journalists.
FBI uses WaPo and CNN, and they too have their preferred individual mouthpieces.
The NYT and WaPo are useful to all agencies but I believe the ATF may lean towards the WaPo and LAT, and HS to NYT.
I haven’t watched TV networks or cable in a couple decades and can’t really speak to agencies and their preferences.
NSA uses all of them, including FOX (which isn’t on your list—I turned them off a few years ago).

My favorite source (and this one is used frequently in regards to Trump) is “persons familiar with his thinking”.
The Nazis won the support of millions of Germans, all right - but the idea that the Germans were fooled, deceived, or misled by propaganda is itself propaganda.
Would they have chosen differently if they could see Germany dismembered and destroyed? Of course.
The New York Ties has no investigative facility. They cannot vet anything. What they do is get the narrative from Democrat operatives and code it in their article as “officials say”. Their narrative sheet is polysyllabic garbage preaching to their progressive choir.

I’m convinced the state department or WH writes most of their political and economic articles (and those at WaPo as well) and the editor assigns someone to affix their name to the piece.
Read the Twitchy thread below and tell me that one government agency or another is not putting information out to certain “media” personnel and telling them to “go with it”.
The deep state selects a person that may be a threat to their narrative, puts an article out to selected media, isolates the target, then makes sure the story spreads.
Suddenly that person is facing criminal charges, lawsuits, and the lose of family, businesses, and reputation. Much as they have done to Mike Lyndell and “My Pillow”, and are doing to Russell Brand. All the accusers against Brand are anonymous and no criminal charges have been filed, but suddenly Brand’s brand he has created over the years, and his income is destroyed. All because he peeked behind the curtain and started telling people what he sees.
“Let’s play “Match the Alphabet Agency to the Network”!”
Lol.
The winner gets endless 24/7 propaganda.
Losers get endless 24/7 propaganda.
Somebody forgot to tell these folks that 1984 was not supposed to be a government handbook.
BTTT
LOL
