Jordan, Scalise Speaker's Fight Goes Back to Boehner-Era Clashes (interesting read)
RedState ^ | 10/6/23 | Neil W. McCabe

Posted on 10/06/2023 6:27:56 AM PDT by cotton1706

This shuffle came about after Jordan, along with Rep. Mark Meadows (R.-N.C.), forced Speaker John Boehner (R.-Ohio) to resign, by filing a vacate the chair motion on the last day before the August 2014 recess.

Boehner did resign right away, and it did not seem like Jordan and Meadows would succeed until House Republicans came back to Washington--having heard in their districts a growing frustration with the speaker.

In a fateful meeting, Jordan, Meadows and Boehner agreed to let Boehner, a Catholic, hang on to his speakership until after the visit of Pope Francis to Washington. Boehner resigned the next day.

Interestingly, Boehner had engineered Jordan’s departure as the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, then a conservative bloc inside the House Republican Conference, in 2013.

Boehner did it by encouraging moderate House Republican freshmen to join the RSC by exploiting the rule that allows new members to join without a review of their voting record. Boehner told the freshmen that joining the RSC, founded in 1973 by Paul Weyrich, would protect them from primary challenges from the right.

Jordan became the RSC chairman after the Tea Party wave in 2010, and throughout the 2011-2013 congressional session, Jordan used the RSC to make trouble for Boehner's program of working with President Barack Obama.

In the next congressional session, 2013-2015, Boehner had enough and he lobbied the moderates inside the RSC to force Jordan out--and Jordan was replaced by Boehner’s pick: Scalise.

It's amazing what a few years can do

Agree, Gaetz learned a lesson leaving Ryan around and didn't make the same mistake twice, seems like a good learner.

“”...we don’t even have enough conservative Republicans in the HOUSE to pass a conservative budget/bill.”
Why do you think that is?”

_________________________

For a number of reasons.

1: Because people like McCarthy, Ryan, Boehner, McConnell, et.al. make promises to their constituents knowing they have no intention of seeing them through. This taints the whole lot.

2: Election interference and manipulation which the republican rinos lack a backbone to challenge. (perhaps because they March in lockstep with democrats seeking the same outcome)

3: An extremely bised media and an executive branch that unconstitutionally colludes with the media and social media platforms.

4: The PEOPLE of America are outspent by thugs like sorts, Zuckerberg, gates, Etc. pumping money into the coffers to elect corrupt Secretaries of State as well as corrupt D.A.’s.

Need we continue?

"we will shatter into a bunch of factions fighting against each other for power"

So you disagree with Gaetz on this? He was wrong when he said this?

None of your four points address the real issue, IMHO.

Republican voters are voting for candidates who are more moderate. The issue of having fewer Conservative people in Congress has nothing to do with the libs. It's a Republican voter issue.

Gaetz has single handedly unified the GOP caucus around Jordan.

What’s disgusting is McBoehnor making deals behind closed doors with a witch! And in his own words admitting he trusted her and got owned.

Perhaps you missed it?

"Gaetz has single handedly unified the GOP caucus around Jordan."

Unless I missed Jordan being elected to the speakership, your assertion is unproven. The only way Jordan can succeed as Speaker is if he takes away Gaetz's ability to vacate on a whim. Gaetz is not the gatekeeper of the party. This is quickly turning into a farce.

I’ll tell you another thing that’s disgusting is having morons in the media brainwashing it’s viewers.

You must have missed it, Gaetz already agreed to this. Also, it appears with Trump's endorsement Jordan will take this, I imagine by unanimous consent. It's over.

Are you sure? This does not sound like "Gaetz already agreed to this" as you stated.

"I’m leaning against changing our existing rules for any particular purpose," said Gaetz. "Though, I am open-minded and would be willing to hear anyone’s presentation if they were offering a rules change."

But you can go from real estate developer to President of the United States in one year.

Someone like Trump who has that kind of money and name recognition was basically a "candidate" for 30+ years before he decided to run for office.

A House member who wants to be Speaker answers only to 434 other members of the House, and can't get by on personality and money alone. There are dozens of others who think (probably correctly) they have better leadership credentials than Donalds.

In any case, “what difference, at this point, does it make?” We’re so screwed that there is no hope no matter who gets the position.

If you really believe that, then please get off FR and find something better to do with your time.

Report – President Trump Will Endorse Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House

October 6, 2023 | Sundance | 454 Comments

President Trump is scheduled to meet with Republican House Conference leadership on Tuesday next week.  According to Congressman Troy Nehls, President Trump is going to recommend and endorse Ohio Representative Jim Jordan for the position:

[Source Link]

Obviously, I do not personally like this idea, as I think it’s just another bondo and spray paint application upon the Republican wing of the UniParty.  However, oddly enough when John Boehner stepped down, I wanted to see Jim Jordan instead of Paul Ryan.  Goes to show how rapidly the machinery in DC can compromise someone.

Ukraine will get funded.  Jordan will be the arbiter of which DC inhabitants will be protected from subpoenas; the House will change the rules to protect him.  The door nameplates change, and everyone goes back to business as usual.

Meh, I wonder who will be placed as chair of the Judiciary Committee and Weaponization Committee?

WRONG! They ARE the issue and attest to WHY we have such a compromised bunch of bought and paid for electorate which are unflective of a center/right nation.

The fix has been in place for decades.

Another thing, do you think that the leadership of a corrupt bought and paid for gop party might also have something to do with an establishment outcome on election day?

There’s YOU’RE moderate voting block!

Does this include 2016?

Yes, I saw Sundance’s post on this.

However, given the choice between Scalise (CR Liberty score 58%) and Jordan (CR Liberty score 94%), I’ll take Jordan.

For all others that aren’t fearful of “random youtube videos”, the first link is a parody of McBoehnor being removed from the Capitol, and the second is Bill O’rino blowing a gasket and having a meltdown.
