The 18-year-old teenager accused of stabbing Brooklyn community activist Ryan Thoresen Carson sobbed today as he was marched out of an NYPD precinct to face first degree murder charges.
Brian Dowling, 18, was arrested at an apartment in Bedford Stuyvesant on Thursday morning on suspicion of stabbing Carson on Monday.
The brutal attack, caught on camera, happened at 3.50am while Carson and his girlfriend were waiting for a bus.
Today, police removed a sweatshirt matching the kind worn by the suspect in the video from Dowling's home, along with a knife that is believed to have been used in the attack.
His home is a five minute walk from where Carson, 32, was stabbed to death.
Neighbors told DailyMail.com he is a 'sweetest boy' who is never normally in trouble.
Family friends outside the home also shared their shock.
'He’s a nice guy. His family are good people …very respectful,' the friend said.
Dowling was previously described as 'emotionally and mentally disturbed'.
He is understood to work at a school in Clinton Hill and is so unhinged that his own aunt reported him to police two months ago after he broke his girlfriend's belongings in a fight.
Carson, the victim, was an advocate of social justice. He spearheaded liberal causes like creating supervised drug injection sites across the city and was a passionate environmentalist.
His girlfriend, according to now locked-down social media profiles, was an avid BLM activist who, among other remarks, used the cop-hating acronym ACAB in some posts.

He made a HUGE MISTAKE by killing a flaming Leftist. He will do some HARD TIME for that. And let that be a lesson to others in LaHood, if they have a MAGA hat, have at them (after all, they’re Fascists), but if they scream Social Justice while you’re about to shoot them, then BACK OFF, as the NYC Police will hunt you down.

I predict they'll throw Carson under the bus. He's dead, no longer any use to anyone. But his death can be used to promote "social justice" and "racial equity" -- by going easy on his killer.
Plus, he's only 18, and this is a first murder.
