The Manhattan judge deciding Donald Trump’s $250 million civil fraud trial lost his cool on Wednesday — slamming his hand on the bench and snapping, “This is ridiculous” — as the former president’s lawyers grilled his ex-accountant over inconsistent testimony.
The judge’s annoyed reaction came after Trump’s side claimed that Donald Bender, a partner at accounting firm Mazars USA, was evading their questions.
The attorneys had also repeatedly insisted they needed to meticulously go through Trump’s financial records with Bender “year by year.”
“Don’t waste time,” Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron said sternly.
Trump attorney Jesus Suarez had spent part of Tuesday afternoon and all of Wednesday morning cross-examining Bender — and said he would continue with the questioning through the end of the day.
“This is ridiculous!” Engoron said, hitting his hand on the bench. “Mr. Bender isn’t on trial here.”
Another Trump attorney, Christopher Kise, said the only things Bender “seems to recall are what the government wants him to recall.”

Alina Habba, also a Trump lawyer, chimed in, “We haven’t got one answer from him … he has no memory as we sit here.”
Kise conceded that they would try “to streamline” the cross-examination before the judge reiterated: “Let’s not waste time.”

Why do I think this bench trial will be overturned and the State sued.
That can happen right? If this judge is shown to be prejudiced and took a man’s livelihood away into receivership to be sold off...
Like, isn’t there serious repercussions to actions like this? Like said ...accused ...in Trump’s case owning the entire State of New York?
They should do the opposite of what this judge wants - let his emotions compromise him.

All this does is reinforce Trump’s attorney’s basis for appeal on grounds the Judge is prejudicial against Trump.
The judge is playing right into their hands. Couple the statements of James and the judge’s prior to trial and the actions of the judge on the bench, in a state other than New York, he’d be sanctioned and face removal.
I’m sure he uses the WAG system to evaluate the properties.(Wild Ass Guess)

Creepy judges like this fish-lip are always the ones who let the courtroom get away from them and commit reversible error. Which he may have just done.

The only thing that the judge doesn’t want is a thorough examination of the facts, as they will contradict his prior (incredibly biased) findings. He also doesn’t want a record of contrary facts, as they will be used in the inevitable appeal (inevitable, because the result in this guy’s courtroom is, itself, inevitably going to be against Trump).
