Florida Democrats speaking out on censorship during National Banned Books Week. Party Chair Nikki Fried says Governor DeSantis is to blame for the fourteen-hundred books being removed from school libraries. Florida law requires schools be more transparent and give parents a chance to have input on selecting school library books. It also creates a process for school districts to ban books through a public hearing and vote by the school board.

Parents are scrutinizing what the leftist teachers unions are doing...and the Democrat party and the media (same thing) are BIG MAD.
Florida news ping?
It’s porn.
I get angry when these know nothings talk about banned books, when it is just removing a book from a library.
My mother knew a person in Soviet-occupied Estonia, who went to jail for having a pre-occupation poetry book. The court found aggravating circumstances because he had underlined the word “freedom” with a pencil.
There is real book banning and there is this circus that the PEN does to dilute the meaning of it.
You can take a Bible into a Haitian school but not in this constitutional republic.
This entire thing cracks me up. As a former teacher, so many of my coworkers were freaking out about censorship (when these dumb broads were some of the BIGGEST censoring lefty morons... hate speech was such a big thing for them.)
The thing is — as a Gen Xer — we had access to some really hard core stuff in the 5 and dime — every paper back in the 70s and 80s (John Saul, et al...) were always good for some graphic sex scene. No one raised an eye brow. So tired of this hand wringing hysteria.
book banning under the guise of perversion
No doubt these same Democrats didn’t have any problem with social media expelling contributors who stray from the “True” liberal narratives.
I had a HS English teacher in 80s who ASSIGNED us Anthem by Ayn Rand. That, among other things, fueled my deep dive into Rush.
She’d be burned at the stake nowadays.
Now, in Elementary school, each of us wanted to take out of the school library The Lorax. That book is thinly-veiled ecologist propaganda, aimed at really young kids. Should that book have been removed from circulation (yes…I understand that there’s no trans etc in The Lorax - work with me)?
There is a simple solution to this problem. Libraries routinely prune their collection. So how about: post on the school’s website the entire library AND proposed purchases for the upcoming year. Give every taxpayer a code to vote books off the island. Majority votes win/lose.
You trusts Leftists (librarians) to run elections? After 2020 in particular?
Florida does not what porn in school libraries - that’s the biggest problem
And as of yesterday men that rape boys and girls under the age of 12 can receive the death penalty... the gay community is mad about that too.
These are not ‘banned books’ they have been removed because they are ‘inappropriate books’. Banned book would be burned and all of them unavailable in every place in Florida, the US or the world.
We should grade books as we grade movies: G, PG, R, X, XXX. Make them age appropriate. It is obvious what is wrong with this country. Sin and evil abound
No.
There are a million ways to do this.
There is also a lot of whining and complaining. People want to wave a magic wand and make this all go away.
If we’re going to be partially pregnant, then you have to work with the system.
Leftists like most pests hate light, heat, and antiseptic. Give it to them. Heck, make the vote open for all to see - find out if the Fussmuckers on the corner really want that piece of trash in the library. That also lets voters confirm that their vote wasn’t 2020’ed.
Or, we can just let people bravely type from their computer about how it’s a travesty of a mockery of a sham that these books are in the library blah blah blah, and nothing gets done.
Florida may be a red State right now but it hasn’t always been. Still lots of creeps to clean out of this place, like Nikki Fried.
Let's rewrite this with the truth:
Florida Democrat Party Chair Nikki Fried says Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is to receive credit for the fourteen-hundred pornographic books being removed from school libraries. These books describe explicit sexual acts and are books used to recruit children into homosexual lifestyles and having sex with adults including teachers and other school system officials.
Ruled by the mob? No thanks. If a conservative/religious family is forced by circumstance to live in a district dominated by leftist you will demand that their kids be subjected to mob rule.
Forced?
Nobody is forcing Johnny or Mary to take that filthy book out of the library.
Nobody is forcing people to procreate.
Parenthood is serious business. There are many decisions, things foregone, etc that accompany bringing a life or lives into this world.
If the prospect of public school is too scary for some people, they should plan on homeschooling. Or avoid parenthood.
But if your are going to start a family, you must be prepared to make decisions.
Or you can be a leftist.
“I had a HS English teacher in 80s who ASSIGNED us Anthem by Ayn Rand. That, among other things, fueled my deep dive into Rush.”
Very similar experience in the 1970s.

A growing number of American adults just enjoy hurting children. They really do.
