Kevin McCarthy failed in an initial vote to block an effort to oust him by Rep. Matt Gaetz, putting his position as House speaker in peril.
Gaetz’s "motion to vacate" the speakership will now head for an official vote.
To prevail, McCarthy or his foes will need a majority of those voting, not just Republicans. Typically Republicans can lose no more than four GOP votes on party-line votes when all members are present. Democratic leaders recommended Tuesday that colleagues vote against saving McCarthy.

It seems the GOP leadership always worked over their own caucus harder than they worked the Democrats.
I'd prefer to see the Democrats scream with rage like they did when Roe was overturned. That's how you beat those guys.

I hope we get a new speaker with some backbone and a strong voice. McCarthy was so wimpy in his speech. Of course I do not want it to be a Democrat.
Everyone of those RINOS so outraged over McCarthy being removed as speaker, has campaigned (many repeatedly) on conservative issues and made promises that if elected (or re-elected) their major goals would be cutting spending, closing the borders, supporting the Constitution, and doing something about our educational system. That’s just a few of the items they have promised us time and time again.
What has been accomplished on either of those items? Other than more spending, an open border, a government that openly violates our Constitutional rights, and students graduating from high school while being unable to read or write? The only time we made progress on ANY of those issues was when Trump was President. And the GOP fought him every step of the way.
All he had to do was keep his promises to his GOP Conference.
That’s all.
I want to see Demorats and MSM heads explode. Nominate Trump! Do it!

McCarthy did not keep his word. He is out as he should be. He has no one to blame but himself.

Not a McCarthy fan by any means, but I hope there’s a plan! There should be replacements ready to hit the ground running. If there isn’t. This is division in the face of the enemy and more a tantrum than strategy.

The republicans voting to save him are only doing so to keep the money he fundraises flowing into their coffers, or they just don’t know any better, or they’re just plain lazy.
