Bank auditors come to your home and assess how much the property is worth..its NOT the homeowner who makes that decision. I can say my house is worth 5 million and put it on the market, doesn’t mean thats what its worth thats how much I think its worth, my opinion. On my previous tax returns our tax guy at the time was a total moron and screwed up my taxes, automatically the IRS corrected it on their end and I had to end up paying instead of receiving..believe me if there is ANY issue they automatically red flag it and correct it

I still remember a comedy from India where the parents mistake IRS agent for prospective groom’s dad and inflate values of their real estate holdings. And when the father of prospective groom shows up, they deflate the values. Yes, marriages were arranged by parents in bygone days and may be why the marriages worked.
The county valuation of my property doubled in a year. It is valued for taxes at a higher price than I can sell it for.
This entire trial is sheer lunacy. First, there are no injured parties; no banks or insurance companies. Second, the government can argue over the price of assets until the cows come home, but there will never be an accurate valuation until assets are sold. Then, only for the briefest moment in time it is known.
Did the two parties to the loan do their due diligence?
Was the valuation acceptable to both parties?
Was the loan paid in full with interest?
Then WTF is the problem?
Who was defrauded?
Ridiculous. I’m more than willing to give a break to a relative. In fact, I had an offer on a place in the mountains at less than half what it’s listed for. Why? I’m family and to keep it in the family. I didn’t buy because of other concerns, but family and friends often get cut rate deals.
The only way to fight this....fight fire with fire. We need Republican AG’s to start filing similar charges against ranking Democrats.

Wow I live in New York - unfortunately- and I was thinking of selling my car. I better get the exact value down to the penny and have a professional assessor sign a form, stamped, notarized by several witnesses, and get several professional mechanics to assess the value before I even think of selling otherwise professional Clinton crime ignorer Letitia James will come after me.

Well, maybe President Trump has finally figured out, on his own (without any so-called "political advice" from Jared & Ivanka), that all Establishment Washington insider Republicans have always hated him, being an outsider, and continue to hate him. Here's what President Trump said yesterday:

Exactly. Thank you, President Trump. I only wish your political advisors Jared & Ivanka (and the rest of them) would have properly advised you about that in early 2019 leading up to the 2020 election. It's a shame I wasn't one of your political advisors because I would have advised you about Establishment Washington insider Republicans as soon as you got elected in 2016.
That's why it's so tough for an outsider to survive in Washington. You must always have your head on a swivel. Establishment Republicans only want other Establishment politicians to be elected President, regardless of Party. Establishment Republicans prefer the Establishment Democrat Joe Biden (60+ years in Washington DC) over outsider President Trump. I really hope President Trump's grassroots campaign is victorious in 2024!
Let me see if I’ve got this right. The financials say the apartment was worth $20.8 million but had a buyout clause, applicable only to Ivanka, that she could buy it for $8.5M and THAT is a false valuation?
Let’s say that my parents pass away and I inherit their house that’s worth $250k. I rent it to my 20 year old kid for $500/mo while he’s finishing school and add a “rent to own” clause that he can buy it for $100k. Does that mean that the house is now only worth less than $250k if I put it on the open market or use it as collateral for a loan?
