A few weeks ago the U.S. Army War College released a paper which was an urgent call for the U.S. armed forces to adapt to the modern style of warfare being innovated in the Ukrainian conflict.
The paper made the rounds due to some startling admissions, which we’ll get to. But what’s most important to understand is that it represents a general shift in thinking that’s propagating throughout the entire sphere of the Atlanticist West, and was released in concert with several other key thinktank pieces and policy shift announcements from the EU, NATO, etc., which holistically represent an internal panic deep within their structures, resulting in an urgent need for a strategy change.
And this point is one of the central themes of the War College paper itself. Its opening preamble can be summarized in a single sentence: the current time period marked by the Ukrainian conflict represents the largest “inflection point” in 50 years of military history. The authors believe that the Yom Kippur War of 1973 was the previous most impactful inflection point. They recount how the U.S. army was demoralized by its experience in Vietnam, and inability to meet its objectives, followed by Israel almost losing to a Soviet-equipped Egypt in the Yom Kippur War.

“I should have had the very same misgivings about the Gulf War at the time, but then I used to believe the “Rs” were the White Hats.”
True, that was the other part, that Kosovo was a Democrat ‘project’. But we should have known, as very, very, few Republicans had any objections. They signaled that we’re dealing with a Uniparty, at least when it comes to starting wars and bombing innocents, but we missed the signal.
Tony Blair called it, “The First Progressives War”
The arms and legs may have two different opinions about this.
Reagan was no "hawk", the "hawks" felt betrayed by Reagan when he agreed to meet Gorby in Reykjavik.
First thing to go in a world war, are all the satellites, rendering all the weapons that rely on them useless.
True that.
That is certainly worth it to "secure" the contested Ukraine eastern border while we are being overrun by millions of military aged men on our own southern border.
Yup, it's precisely what we need!
Somewhere Delmar G. Simpson is smiling at the thought of all the cute suburban gals being drafted into the Army. This will make “Aberdeen” look like a convent. Draft the cheerleaders and leave the football team at home. What a joke as history repeats itself: https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/library/aberdeen/aber3.htm
Red or blue state is irrelevant really. Go by county. There are areas in California, Maryland and Massachusetts every bit as conservative as anywhere. Likewise there are quite a few very liberal voting areas in Texas, Mississippi and Iowa. It all boils down largely to ethnicity and heritage.
Massive resistance would require almost immediate replacement of the banking, transportation, and other systems. The only way that could happen is organized resistance by a state or group of states and even then the dislocation would be horrific with most large employers being unable or unwilling to meet payroll, pay suppliers, etc.
And they could still raise troops from blue areas no matter how unpopular because if you hold political power from the barrel of a gun political unpopularity doesn't matter much. And they will blame us for the problem to increase the motivation of new recruits.
There is no example of "massive resistance" succeeding without a solid plurality of the country's elite pushing for it. As Machiavelli noted, the vast majority of people simply wish to be left alone and our own revolution would have gone nowhere without a substantial portion of the elites going along with it and having a ready political instrument in the form of the colonial governments and militias at hand. Show me where that is now and maybe I'll believe you.
Or we could just STAY OUT OF IT.
Never mind.Put in the draft. Draft Auntie Fah, BLM, and all the feminists. They will all get their wish to fight for the radical left and uniparty in Russia.
🍿
But, as you point out the current selective service laws don't include girls, so they don't have to register. So they wouldn't be eligible for the draft if it restarted tomorrow. The draft boards wouldn't have any information on them.
As far as conservatives go, it's an interesting problem:
OR
DO WE take it as an opportunity to start to reverse the trends, ideas and ideology that we disagree with. "SEE, woman really ARE NOT like Men, so all these OTHER silly rules that pretend that they are -- we need to relook at those, TOO!
I could go either way on this. But it's a useful observation that Conservatives or the Right always end up accepting the morality and premises of our ideological opponents, and they seem surprised when they run the table on us.
My experience of rural Northern California is that the State has a hard time enforcing their edicts there. It’s a big place and their aren’t a lot of LEOs, especially State LEOs to cover it. The local sheriffs (for instance) tolerated industrial scale marijuana farming there for 20 years before the State finally capitulated and legalized it.
No one is going to resist squat because there is no political movement sufficiently organized to arrange any effective resistance. Individual acts of resistance will simply be crushed a will any attempt to organize an effective resistance

Institute a draft and this will change.
More Americans would be killed in a war with Russia, than with Afghanistan.
Not really a surprise.
Also, more Russians would be killed in a war with America, than with Ukraine.
Also not a surprise.
Add in the rest of NATO, and Russians would be getting killed at a still higher rate.
Indeed, the remnants of Russia’s military would not last very long against NATO - call it two weeks.
This will not change any time soon, if anything it will only get worse. Unfortunately a good portion of the public is drawn to socialism like moth’s into a flame and are too ignorant to realize the dangers until it’s too late. And we are right in the process of doing just that. Too bad that people who want no part of it are sucked right into it as well.
Sending your troops into a non-Nato country at war, then having them attacked, does not trigger a NATO response

I have an idiot 30ish niece who told my sister “My generation cannot wait until your generation is dead.” It never once occurred to me to tell my mother and father that. Their parent had been through WW I, my mom & dad had been through the depression and WW II, they secured freedom in the 50s and the communists started stealing it in the 60s. Their project is nearly complete.
I hear so many young people say they want nothing more than to work for the government! It is beyond pathetic.
