A few weeks ago the U.S. Army War College released a paper which was an urgent call for the U.S. armed forces to adapt to the modern style of warfare being innovated in the Ukrainian conflict.
The paper made the rounds due to some startling admissions, which we’ll get to. But what’s most important to understand is that it represents a general shift in thinking that’s propagating throughout the entire sphere of the Atlanticist West, and was released in concert with several other key thinktank pieces and policy shift announcements from the EU, NATO, etc., which holistically represent an internal panic deep within their structures, resulting in an urgent need for a strategy change.
And this point is one of the central themes of the War College paper itself. Its opening preamble can be summarized in a single sentence: the current time period marked by the Ukrainian conflict represents the largest “inflection point” in 50 years of military history. The authors believe that the Yom Kippur War of 1973 was the previous most impactful inflection point. They recount how the U.S. army was demoralized by its experience in Vietnam, and inability to meet its objectives, followed by Israel almost losing to a Soviet-equipped Egypt in the Yom Kippur War.

Those living in LaLa land for years, thinking they had a “peace dividend”, are getting a rude awakening. The Russians, Chinese and their client states never suffered that delusion.
Read up on the American Protective League and the “Slacker Raids” during WWI.
You’re probably right but the death of 5000 American Soldiers with no end in sight to the carnage would illicit some sort of reaction
“This can only be a surprise to the opportunists in the upper echelons of the US military who saluted and went along with Bush’s transformation of US heavy forces like armor and artillery into light infantry, believing that the history fairy had made any near peer warfare impossible. Now do our shrunken, badly equipped and trained Navy vs. China.”
I can’t say that I often agree with you, but you NAILED IT here, and that was one of my main reasons to not get into wars with superpowers that have been expanding and upgrading their militaries over the past few decades, when we haven’t done jack, other than continue to shrink, shrink, shrink, our military.
I also know the Leftist mindset, which is that the world is no different today than it was in 1990, and we can clobber anyone - so why not have some ‘fun’ around the world, especially if it means ridding the world of the pesky governments in China and Russia?
That attitude will get us blown off the map.
Here are some thought provoking ideas, goat herders don't have missiles (even ones that don't work sometimes), they don't have satellite counter battery fire and a few other things the Russians do have and the chicoms.
Yeah, a much different war.
Really?
Falsify a FISA Warrant?
Lie about foreign governments helping a presidential campaign?
Impeach a president over a false phone call? Impeach him again when he tells people to PEACEBLY protest the stolen election, and then throw people in jail for walking into a public building whose armed guards unlocked the doors, held them open and waved them in?
Allow hundreds of looters to burn and rampage private property and beat/kill innocent citizens?
Force people to wear paper over their nose and mouth when scientifically, proved to not help with Viri?
Force people via threatening their livelihoods to get an untested experimental vaccine that was shown to cause heart issues and deaths with many?
Steal two national elections?
Search an ex-president’s home and seize his documents?
Allow illegal aliens, from all over the world—not just Mexico, to cross the border and not arrest and deport them, but provide assistance and welfare benefits?
Allow doctors to cut off children’s genitals or surgically replace them while filling them with chemicals that cause God knows what?
crickets...
I’m not sure ANYTHING will wake America.
“Open Source Intel” in this conflict has been largely planted propo by both sides to support public perception of military successes…not battlefield reality.
I do perceive Ukraine has been the far more egregious slayer of fact and reality to keep its indoctrinated militant nationalists and its sugar-daddy MIC money and weapons suppliers in support of continuing the status quo of war to the last Ukrainian.
There’s also been the total embarrassingly incompetent BS in war reporting by ineptly amateurish so-called ‘experts” from various corporate funded “Think Tanks” ( like Nuland’s ISW) ….who deserve to be caned or at least, ignored from now forward. Along with the retired Brass they are renting
I don’t believe for one minute that our Intel Community at least at some level isn’t aware of this…probably the level that is ordered to shut up and provide the POTUS and Congress with doctored weasel-worded estimates to reassure them that eventually, Ukraine will win and unicorns will crap skittles
Bang on - thanks for posting.
That would be in the first week, or less
“The rate of American casualties in a future USA vs. Russia war would be much higher than we saw in Afghanistan.”
War with China would be much worse.
Mostly a naval battle
With much faster outcome
Especially with all the Chinese Fifth Columnists already here. Blood is thicker than water.
“Use of open-source intel in the Ukraine war has led to some terrible outcomes. It’s not reliable and the idea we sould make life-and-death military decisions based on what some blogger in Holland or vlogger in Switzerland says is a failure mode.”
Yep. We see that on the FR all the time. The war reports are complete BS most of the time. That doesn’t stop people from analyzing it though.
The only changing the military is capable of under current leadership is the quickening of the slide to woke, pervo total incompetence. We need the War College to tell us a conflict between Russia and NATO would be a mass casualty event? Perhaps, if the Pentagon and WH would remember what MAD actually is, they’d give up their pervo globalist proxy war before they kill us all.
“How many people refused the vaccine, despite all the pressure put on them to take it?”
Only 9% in my age group anyway (including me).
Thanks for the thread, tho.
Absolutely in the first week and who knows after that.
The UK has already started talking about sending trainers into Ukraine, if that happens UK soldiers become legitimate targets, if the US follows suit, that will trigger real fighting between NATO and Russia.
Even is the US and UK conduct some type of false flag operation, they will not allow Ukraine to lose this war without fighting themselves.
Madeleine Albright's infamous words to Colin Powell, "What's the point of having this superb military you're always talking about if we can't use it?"
The Deep State doesn’t care about individual resistance. They simply murder an old guy once in a while to keep the proles in line.
But as soon as any opposition group attempts to form up the govt is on it immediately to destroy it. Like the Proud Boys. Only groups useful to the State, like BLM or Antifa are allowed to organize. Then they are protected from prosecution.
