McCarthy to Gaetz: ‘Bring It On,’ I’ll Survive as Speaker
Breitbart ^ | 10/01/2023 | Pam Key

Posted on 10/01/2023 9:35:51 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) plans to come after his speakership will fail.

Anchor Margaret Brennan said, “I want to start, though, on the news from Congressman Matt Gaetz, who says he’s going to seek a motion to vacate. He’s going to try to oust you as speaker of the House.”

Megalomaniac Gaetz thinks he is the one true conservative savior for this nation. His snake oil is working on you too.

Gaetz was my favorite Congressman for the last several years, and I’ve never ever supported McCarthy on much of anything. But Gaetz is actually the one being counter-productive, this time.

No one is talking about it, but Republicans have succeeded for the first time anyone has in about a decade, to get rid of the Omnibus bills, and separate the individual spending bills out by department.

They needed a little more time to get it done, so a temporary CR was brought up last week that included some pretty major cuts to the overall budget, in exchange for the needed delay on the new process.

Rather than be happy about those cuts, and the forthcoming death of the Omnibus and individual spending bills, Gaetz instead decided he would upend the whole process, and steal defeat from the jaws of victory.

So what we got was a CR with ZERO spending cuts, instead. And, the possibility that this stunt of his will result in people wanting to just go back to the Omnibuses again, because they are quicker and simpler to get done, at the cost of any fiscal responsibility.

McCarthy will win that fight, and unbelievably Gaetz knows it, yet he, Gaetz, persists. He must be thinking of “winning” something else for himself

It's like playing poker. The player who never bluffs will quickly signal to the other players when their hand is strong or weak.

It's like watching the football game when one team has no running game. When all they do is pass, the defense quickly figures out that they don't need to keep the cornerbacks on the defensive line.

If McCarthy comes to believe that the Gaetz wing of the party are paper tigers then he will slowly begin reneging on the deals he made to become the Speaker. Making a motion to vacate will keep that doubt in McCarthy's mind that the right wing of the party is serious about holding McCarthy to his agreements.

They might not win the votes, but they eventually lose the game by not even making the motions.

Not interesting at all, in fact the post is quite boring and shows another moderate being exposed.

McCarthy is a liar and a cheat and deserves to be removed.

Anyone ever tell you that Republicans are intelligent, you have reason to dispute it.

I think there's a lot of truth to what you posted. If I recall correctly, Gaetz is upset that McCarthy didn't adhere to the agreement to give members a 72-hour notice to review bills before voting.

My questions are:

  1. Are there supportable reasons for neglecting the 72-hour notice? Was this a crisis of their own making that squeezed the timeline past the 72-hour window to shut down the government?

  2. Would adhering to the 72-hour rule and let the government shut down for a single day or two be so bad in the short run if it gives House members the time to review what they're voting on?
This sends the message either that they won't let games of crisis chicken sway them, or on the other hand that they are willing to fold and let McCarthy pass bills negotiated with the Democrats and call for Pelosi-style votes where Republicans have to vote for it to find out what's in it. If it's the latter, then that will quickly become the norm again. Everything will become a crisis to create the urgency to pass something immediately.

they are almost 100 percent in lock step in their ideology and present a united front.

There is ZERO ideology or principles behind them. It is all about power at any cost. And they destroy their own when they don't do as they are told.

They are Satan's children.

Gaetz’ repeated attacks and threats against others is exactly the behavior of a sociopath.

Voting for Rs and expecting them to put Americans first - now that is truly something to behold.

Not going so well for the goobers vying to become the R's presidential candidate for 2024

when patriots are labeled sociopaths.

That’s it right there.

The media and DC have perfected their ability to make anyone that actually sticks up for the people, wants some level of accountability, wants to actually adhere to the law and do their job, as a sociopath or fringe. IE Louie Ghomert.

There was a meme floating around a while back:

People are so used to being lied to and manipulated that facts and the truth seem aggressive.

Folks like nautinurse are ok with the vomit coming out of DC. Perhaps these disastrous policies don’t affect him/her, so all is good. No ck Erin about anyone or anything else.

I would NEVER let McCarthy talk to me like that. If you told me to “bring it”, it would be brought. He is siding with the Demcrats as they rape us economically even more.

Hyperbole. Perhaps you should review the definition of communist. You might need to look up hyperbole first.

I look at what McCarthy does. I watch how what he says does not match. I did not intend my statements to be hyperbolic at all. But, maybe he is being blackmailed and is not a believing communist.

McCarthy "Promised" to have line item budget votes. This would have put an end to baseline budgeting. But he did not do it and held the budget until the last minute to have a "government shutdown crisis" to continue the baseline budgeting. The baseline budgeting is the tool of the left to achieve the Cloward-Piven Strategy of Orchestrated Crisis where the free enterprise system is overloaded and collapses...and the new communist system can be built (Build Back Better?) to replace it.

Under baseline budgeting any increase in spending is locked in forever (like COVID Relief spending). And, the spending never decreases. It is like a ratchet that always goes in one direction, but never backwards....until the inevitable collapse.

Whether Gaetz is a sociopath or whether he has support does not change the fact that he is on the right side in this argument or that McCarthy lied about what he would do if elected as Speaker. McCarthy is working on the side of those who want to collapse the Free Enterprise System by these actions. He can say whatever he wants, but actions should speak louder than words. My respectful opinion, MC

What motive does Gaetz have to very publicly attack and threaten multiple members of his Congressional party? A successful negotiator and leader works with carrots rather than Howitzers to sway colleagues. Gaetz is out of control. His vessel is under too much pressure.

Given that Jordan is most certainly NOT the Conservative warrior that he has been propped up to be, Gaetz should go after him.

If Donald’s, who spends quite a bit of time doing interviews about the reckless spending, went along with this crap, then he to should be gone after.

Gaetz used his beloved microphone to publicly diss Byron Donalds and his attempt to reach a deal last week.

Was this a crisis of their own making that squeezed the timeline past the 72-hour window to shut down the government?

McCarthy does deserve most of the blame for that. I think the majority of these individual spending bills came out of the committees back in June and July, so there's been plenty of time for floor debate on each one, which never really happened.

But Gaetz never articulated any of that. His entire argument has been to try to make McCarthy out as the bad guy, who doesn't want any cuts at all, when McCarthy did deliver a CR with spending cuts.

They need to get on the same page, one way or another, and put the pressure on the Democrats, who are truly the ones who don't want any cuts. McCarthy's CR with cuts may have been late, but it could have still been approved and make the Democrats go on record that they are actually the ones who don't want any cuts, at all. And if Gaetz is going to cause this sort of chaos over who is Speaker, who is the alternative? He's almost being reduced to a prankster, with no better ideas on what to do, himself.

I think the time for these debates over spending are best resolved over the debt ceiling increase. Don't approve that, again. Then, when the outflow money IS ACTUALLY capped, the true decisions have to be made on what they will, and will not, choose to pay for.

get rid of the Omnibus bills, and separate the individual spending bills out by department.

Ok….so they take apart the omnibus bill, separate each spending request, vote on them as single issue bills, PASS each of those bills and the spending just rolls right along, only it’s not called an Omnibus package anymore.

So, same spending, just repackaged under a different name….and that’s a win?
