The August 11 raids of the Marion County Record office and the homes of its publisher and a City Council member have been sharply criticized.
Video of the raid on the home of publisher Eric Meyer shows how distraught his 98-year-old mother had become as officers searched through their belongings.

Meyer said he believes that the grief and stress contributed to Joan Meyer's death one day later.
She was sobbing, couldn't eat, and died mid-sentence just 12 hours after the ordeal.

Cody became chief of the Marion County Police Department in late April, after leaving the Kansas City police amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
The incident also flung Marion to the forefront of a debate over press protections offered by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

He needs the death penalty.
Seems odd I cannot find a photo of the sheriff.
” town of about 1,900 people struggles to move forward under the national spotlight.”
Oh please, lets be dramatic.
Suspended hell, he needs to be arrested for conspiracy to commit murder.

Suspended like with a rope?
He looks like a cross between Edward G. Robinson and George Wallace...
Okay, had to read the source article. The newspaper and owners are suspected of hacking and identity theft?
Except it was a big bunch of BS to excuse an illegal raid on a news org.
Must you be thread-jackass each and every time?

They went to a government website and requested information like any citizen is allowed to do and were given it.
They looked at the information, which was available to any citizen who asked, and decided that there was not enough there to do a story.
But their getting this publicly available information made poor sweet white male police chief's butt hurt.
It’s at all he link for the story
And you would be wrong
they all think they can get away with the most outrageous things, and apparently they can, at least for a while....
WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG?
Lawlessness and strong arm tactics of a banana republic seem to be a cultural thing don’t they?
No, I’m not clicking the Daily Mail, but who suspended him? Was it at a state level?
Maybe you are on Ron's payroll....???
Yes, I was a bit bored, fall cleaning, dreary day barely in the 40s outside.
Thanks for caring, I'll try to do better tomorrow. Today's already shot.
