All eyes are on Capitol Hill, watching as Congress gets closer and closer to failing to fund the federal government, forcing a shutdown.
Shutting down the government could have big reverberations across the country — and significant consequences for the people who live and work and visit the nation's capital.
Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia combined have about 400,000 federal workers, plus hundreds of thousands of military service members and government contractors. The region's growth and competitiveness have long been tied to the federal government.

Government workers only represent a drain on the economy. We need as few of them as necessary to do what government is supposed to do.
Congress needs to pay only those federal workers who work for no pay during a shutdown of the government. Federal workers need to recognize that being laid off is a fact of life for everyone who is not a federal worker and should be for federal workers as well.

I think I see part of the problem.
Americans wouldn’t care. I see the RAT “press” is already whining about the National Parks being closed. Personally, as an NPS fan, former employee and a big supporter of National Parks, I think they could use a good vacation and shut down period to heal the scars azzholes are making on them. JMO.
Its the one way to keep them from spending $$$
