California governor Gavin Newsom mocked Florida governor Ron DeSantis on live television for taking the “bait” in debating him while calling DeSantis a “distracted” candidate.
“Why is he doing it? That’s the right question. He’s running — I think, I’m not sure after tonight — but currently he’s running for president of the United States,” Newsom said in an interview Wednesday.
The California governor’s remarks come on the heels of the second GOP debate, in Simi Valley, Calif., where he said he wasn’t particularly impressed with DeSantis or the rest of the Republican presidential field. Newsom attended the event.
Newsom and DeSantis are set to debate in Georgia on November 30. When asked by Fox 11 Los Angeles news anchor Elex Michaelson about the possibility of DeSantis’s still being a candidate by then, Newsom said, “Part of me wonders.”
“The fact that he took this debate, the fact that he took the bait in relation to this debate, shows that he’s completely unqualified to be president of the United States,” he said.
“I mean why is he debating a guy who’s not even running for president when he’s running for president?” Newsom said. “He’s showing up at the Reagan Library, hallowed ground, and he puts out an ad today not for his presidential campaign, to promote a debate against the governor of California. I mean this guy’s distracted, so I don’t know that he has it in his heart. I think — here’s my personal opinion about Ron DeSantis — he regrets running for president.”

Newsome is the slimiest scum ever. Hard to find a person more low, foul and slimy than Nuisance.
His intent is insidious and calculating.
DeSantis can’t mop the floor with anyone. He is getting set up.
Like Bill Clinton. Gavin Newsom is version 2.0 of Bill Clinton.

NOBODY is going anywhere against Trump in this primary now and NOBODY had a chance to get anywhere against him from the very beginning. THEY ARE ALL ON A FOOL’S ERRAND and wasting their time to say nothing about demolishing their national political futures.
That’s IMHO, of course, but from well founded reasoning,

I disagree. Everyone hated Hillary except for the base in the Democratic Party. She was too obvious.
With Newsom, all the chicks love him. He's good looking and a smooth talker.

DeSantis has disappointed with the retail politics, but that lawyerly manner would serve him well in a one on one with the oleaginous Gavin Newsom. Robert Barnes, among others, has been pushing the idea that Ron is falling into a trap by running, but the objective measures of that theory all boil down to "he's losing to Trump" in the polls. Well, a lot can happen between now and Iowa, and not having a "plan B" in place doesn't seem like a great idea.
And if Newsom is the candidate, its hard to see the downside of letting him get roughed up on an undercard before Trump has a go at him in the general. The chances of Newsom improving his position by debating DeSantis look to be about zero, at least from where I sit.
Not just RAT chicks. But women in general. It was the same deal with Bill Clinton.
Interesting observation. A lot of them didn't vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
DeSantis was a JAG in the Navy.
Who challenged whom?
I know Hannity was in the mix as well.
But if Newsome challenged DeSantis to debate, how can he say accepting a debate proves he is unqualified to be president?
What’s wrong with two governors of different political philosophies debating the issues of the day?
DeSantis has no confidence because his whole campaign is a staged event and he is told what to say. And it shows.
His discomfort and inability to connect always shows on his face. Hence the odd facial expressions, deer in the headlight looks, and the head bobbing.
He is going to sweat like a stuck pig.
Just because someone was a lawyer doesn’t mean they are good at articulating.
Newsome is a mean snake.
He’s a good governor in Florida. But it requires different skills in being an administrator rather than a politican.

Other way around. Newsom has been challenging Desantis to debate since September 2022 after aliens were flown to California.
Desantis ignored it.
Then Hannity got involved in June 2023 and Newsom accepted Hannity’s offer to moderate.
Ron’s response to Newsom was why don’t
you run for President? Stop “pussy footing”. Challenge Joe if you want a debate.
Good answer.
But Ron’s 2024 campaign never took off and he was done as a 2024 candidate.
So in August 2023 Desantis finally gave in to Hannity in an interview and said “I am game!” nearly a year after Newsom first challenged him and right in the middle of the 2024 election.
Hence the distraction for all.
But Hannity gets to have “fun”, Fox gets some extra ratings and DeSantis rather than drop out would rather bash Trump and bring the spotlight to Newsom.
All sickness ain't death .... and nobody's perfect , we need to remember the Reagan rule....

I hear people saying Newsome is a lightweight and would be a lousy debater. Has DeSantis done that compelling a job in the two debates he has been in recently?
