RFK Jr. Warns ‘Next Step’ Is Military Advisers in Ukraine: ‘Have They Forgotten’ Vietnam?
Breitbart ^ | 28 Sep 2023 | KRISTINA WONG

Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. warned on Thursday that the “next step of Ukraine War escalation” is stationing United States military advisers on the ground.

He flagged a recent article by Foreign Affairs titled “Why America Should Send Military Advisers to Ukraine: On-the-Ground Help Will Bolster Kyiv Without Risking Escalation.”

He posted on X: “Establishment journal Foreign Affairs signals the next step of Ukraine War escalation: stationing U.S. military advisors on the ground. Have they forgotten how we got embroiled in Vietnam?”

The article, written by Alexandra Chinchilla, an assistant professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, and Sam Rosenberg, a Ph.D. candidate at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas and a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, argued that Western training for Ukraine troops could reach more troops if it took place within the country.

They wrote:

Although Western instruction has reached many Ukrainian soldiers, it has missed the overwhelming majority. That is because Western training has been administered outside Ukraine, from locations across Europe. This distance has limited how many Ukrainians can access instruction and how customized the training can be to the terrain of Ukraine and the specialized tactics needed there. It also limits the extent to which the United States can catalyze enduring transformations in Ukraine’s defense establishment.

Washington should therefore lift the strict restrictions on the number of U.S. government personnel allowed in Ukraine and begin stationing military advisers within the country and across its defense apparatus. Sending advisers would increase the number of Ukrainian soldiers who receive top-of-the-line training.

“The Vietnam hippies who protested the Vietnam War and burned their draft cards are now in power wanting the USA to get involved directly in the Ukraine war so they can profit off the destruction.”

I was thankful for those who protested, it got my ignorant, young, dupa out of a war that I didn’t want to be in. I would tend to doubt that “The Vietnam hippies who protested the Vietnam War” are the same ones that want the USA to get directly involved in the Ukraine war.

Those that promote the Ukraine war, or any war for that matter, apparently have no idea of what war is, the destruction it causes and, in particular, the poor SOBs that suffer the direct consequences.

The American Army had a few men in Vietnam during WWII.

There was nothing to miss, countries had relations and people involved in Ukraine that they pulled out when Russia invaded and started attacking the country.

Jun 8, 2017
“A combat training center that U.S. troops helped establish in Ukraine plans to host brigade-sized rotations beginning in 2018, officials said.”

September 30, 2019
“YAVORIV, Ukraine - From the raising of the U.S. and Ukraine flags on Sept. 13, 2019, to the lowering of the flags on Sept. 28, 2019, hard work and intense multinational training with over 3,700 Soldiers from 14 different nations, Rapid Trident 2019 came to a close in Yavoriv, Ukraine.”

It’s laughable that anyone to the right of Gavin Newsom or AOC would listen to a thing RFK has to say. He is a socialist who is a one trick pony to some low information anti vax people.

There is no basis to this story.
RFK is simply trying to stir up the pot for attention.

What units?

Normally providing a source is normal but for something so normal and routine as basic knowledge of WWII you should just
google it.

Try “WWII Americans in Vietnam”.

An incredible article and great read!

The OSS in Vietnam, 1945: A War of Missed Opportunities by Dixee Bartholomew-Feis

In 1945, members of the American “Deer Team,” part of the OSS, worked with Vietnamese guerrilla fighters to throw Japanese troops out of Indochina.

As the war ended, the people of Vietnam looked to the United States to support their dreams of independence.

The OSS then sent in “Deer Team,” commanded by Maj. Allison Thomas, who parachuted into the Viet Minh base area to train them for operations against the Japanese. When Thomas and his team arrived in late July, they were greeted by a large banner proclaiming, “Welcome to Our American Friends.” With the tone for their work set, the Deer Team went about training the Viet Minh in the proper use of bazookas, carbines, and grenades. Before long, the Vietnamese-American Force was born.

more scare-mongering

don’t need to send US military advisors, Ukraine understands modern warfare quite well

(unlike the South Vietnamese Army)

apples & oranges
