Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. warned on Thursday that the “next step of Ukraine War escalation” is stationing United States military advisers on the ground.
He flagged a recent article by Foreign Affairs titled “Why America Should Send Military Advisers to Ukraine: On-the-Ground Help Will Bolster Kyiv Without Risking Escalation.”
He posted on X: “Establishment journal Foreign Affairs signals the next step of Ukraine War escalation: stationing U.S. military advisors on the ground. Have they forgotten how we got embroiled in Vietnam?”
The article, written by Alexandra Chinchilla, an assistant professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, and Sam Rosenberg, a Ph.D. candidate at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas and a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, argued that Western training for Ukraine troops could reach more troops if it took place within the country.
They wrote:
Although Western instruction has reached many Ukrainian soldiers, it has missed the overwhelming majority. That is because Western training has been administered outside Ukraine, from locations across Europe. This distance has limited how many Ukrainians can access instruction and how customized the training can be to the terrain of Ukraine and the specialized tactics needed there. It also limits the extent to which the United States can catalyze enduring transformations in Ukraine’s defense establishment.
Washington should therefore lift the strict restrictions on the number of U.S. government personnel allowed in Ukraine and begin stationing military advisers within the country and across its defense apparatus. Sending advisers would increase the number of Ukrainian soldiers who receive top-of-the-line training.

“It would make Dems heads explode if President Trump chose RFK Jr. for his running mate. OMG.”

While that would never happen, and for good reason, It would be strategic to nominate RFK Jr to be Ambassadore to Ukraine.
Actually us hippies still believe in Make Love not War.
However if you get in a war, the worst thing you can do is drag it out by incrementalism. Biden missed the window to not have this war, and now he’s done the worst thing you can do, which is bleed a country ( Ukraine) to death while fighting a “proxy” war. If you have access to outside the US media you will read that the Russians believe that they are at war with NATO and the US. Spin it how you will, but that’s the way the Russians are spinning it domestically. I have a long time democrat friend who actually believes that if the Russians us a nuke in Ukraine, we will use one back and that will be the end of the nuclear aspect of the war. What an idiot. There was a game in the 80’s called nuclear escalation. The game usually ended the round after the first nuke was used. Everyone in the game goes into use em or lose em mode and launches everything.
The path we are on seems irreversible.
Even Trump knows if he makes it to the WH he will inherit whatever is passed on maybe the nuked up USA.
If the US is stupid enough to do that we will then be in a war with Russia. Of course that would be a perfect deflection for taking the heat off the Biden crime family.
They haven’t forgotten Vietnam. They still remember the huge profits and bribes from that war. A coworker was in Nam. At one point, his job was to haul brand new school buses, sent from the US, out to sea and let them sink.
This is a war that could go hot... Our military ‘leaders’ should stay with what they understand. Cool uniforms for pregnant women and ‘rights’ of sexual weirdos...
Next step? They and especially “contractors” have been there for years. I would bet a few dozen have been killed already.

Its obvious, isn't it? I have no doubt the real planners in DC also believe the exact same thing.
the tried and true Kennedy solution.
They were in Vietnam long before Kennedy was POTUS.............
Don Henley had a great take on this cultural change all the way back in the 1980s:
"Out on the road today, I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac." -- Don Henley, "The Boys Of Summer"
I thought the lesson of Viet Nam is that you don’t cut off aid and let the bad guys win. Our soldiers actually won the war. It ended in a peace treaty. Then North Viet Nam invaded and the Democrat congress cut off aid to South Viet Nam.
BTW In 1975, Biden was among 16 Senators to vote against extending aid, although the measure passed in the Senate. The bill was then defeated in the House and aid was cut off.
It would also make Republicans heads explode and guarantee a Trump loss.
Advisors had done fine in Vietnam since 1950, even when they were killed, it was JFK who ended the “advisor” role and introduced mass troops.
Yes. they forgot. They never learned in the first place.
The fools are bird brains (don’t mean to insult birds).
Sure. This is heading directly to the same outcome as all the others.
What was it that Enstien said about fools and doing the same thing over and over??

A friend, who was in our Navy at the end of WWII, was learning Mandarin* while we were still battling the Japanese and Germans.
After the end of WWII he finished his Mandarin classes and spent the winter/spring in what was Viet Nam using his new Language skills.
“The standard literary and official form of Chinese based on the Beijing dialect, spoken by over 730 million people.
“Mandarin Chinese”!
They/the Chicoms were also in Vietnam long before Kennedy was POTUS.............
NATO supplies the weapons. Ukraine fights. Russian military gets so shot up it has to spend the next two or three decades rebuilding.
No US combat boots have been on the ground ground for the last 19 months. No need for them now or the future either.
Deal with it.
