President Biden made an unprecedented stop Tuesday, joining the picket line with striking autoworkers and marking the first time a sitting president has done so.
The president stood in solidarity with United Auto Workers (UAW) at a General Motors facility in Van Buren Township, Mich., and spoke to the group via bullhorn alongside union President Shawn Fain.
“Wall Street didn’t build the country. The middle class built the country. Unions built the middle class,” Biden, wearing a baseball cap and quarter-zip sweater, told the striking workers.
“Let’s keep going; you deserve what you’ve earned, and you deserve a hell of a lot more than what you’re getting paid now,” Biden said to cheers from the group.

Farmers, Ranchers, and Miners built the country. The UAW is an extortion racket. Unions lost most of their reason for being after the labor reform laws were passed. Unions had their day, but then so did the dinosaurs. Unions reward longevity and not merit.

I’m in the Detroit area. I think we’re being a little unfair to these folks. Many of them are voting Trump. They’re well aware Biden isn’t being honest and just wants their vote - and will then do nothing.
Many of these folks voted Trump in 2016 and 2020. Remember, the far left messaging, especially the LGBT+ crap, doesn’t fly in blue collar manufacturing plants. It only thrives in white collar corporate America.
I would not assume they’ll just vote as the UAW tells them.
I worked for a Public Employee Union, not a member. At least private employer unions are supposed to consider the company they work for ability to continue operations ( unless the government bails them out). Public employees know that the taxpayers will be forced to pay for their wages and benefits.
