Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin – the Russian mercenary leader whose plane crashed weeks after he led a mutiny against Moscow’s military leadership – shows what happens when people make deals with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
As Ukraine’s counteroffensive moves into a fourth month, with only modest gains to show so far, Zelensky told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria he rejected suggestions it was time to negotiate peace with the Kremlin.
“When you want to have a compromise or a dialogue with somebody, you cannot do it with a liar,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
He said when Putin understood that a big part of society supported Prigozhin, “he killed him. But before he killed, he gave him promises, the territory of Belorussia (Belarus), gave him new locations, the Africa issues and businesses, a lot of different things.”
The Wagner leader’s dramatic death, which followed a short-lived rebellion that threatened the authority of the Russian president, was a warning to be heeded, Zelensky suggested.

Yeah, like Putin is any less trustworthy than Zelensky and/or Biden.
Will someone say enough is enough, call for immediate ceasefire and embargo of any new weapons and munitions into Ukraine by everyone?
“ Yeah, like Putin is any less trustworthy than Zelensky and/or Biden.”
So you agree with Actor boy.
WAIT! Hold on partner, this was to be the summer offensive that would crush the Russians, send them back to the Urals for protection of the Mother Land. Allow lovers of Birch Plywood a steady production for our kitchen cabinets. WTH happened? Say it’s not so Joe...... well, at least mumble something.......
Probably better for Ukraine to go along with a Putin stooge like Alexander Lukashenko and hope they'll get more freedom after Putin.
None of these hacks are trustworthy with their agreements. Remember former German Chancellor Merkel admitted the Minsk agreement was merely to buy time for Ukraine’s arms build-up.
I guess it worked. The Ukrainian Army we saw in 2022 was not the same one we saw in 2014. My only question is, why didn't Zelensky mobilize his citizens when the Russians were moving their troops to Belarus before the invasion?
Ukraine will cease to exist long before they’re able to ‘get rid’ of Putin.
The Borsch-Reich is gonna get got.
Ukraine will be around a lot longer than Putin
deal with it
“Ukraine will be around a lot longer than Putin
deal with it”
Of course it will. So will Russia. Eventually there will be a peace settlement. Both sides seem to be intransigent right now, but they will have to deal with each other someday. The problem for Ukraine is they are locked in an attritional battle with a stronger enemy.
None.
Yes.
If it exists, Ukraine will be a postage stamp sized land locked rump state.
Deal with it Aleksey
Not everyone agreed with the American assessment and Ukraine knew that once it was declared that the world’s second most powerful military that shares a border with them was going to invade, then the economy would collapse and the people be in turmoil and panic.
The economy was a huge consideration, if the invasion was declared prematurely or unnecessarily, then it would be catastrophic.
Luckily the election of President Trump had equipped them with enough weapons that Kyiv managed to beat off the attack on the capitol and gain some time to recover and fight on.
The only thing Voldemort Zelenskyy cares about is:
Peace = No ‘Grease’.
The end of billions a month in American Taxpayer money to hide away, launder and distribute to friends and back to the American politicians who enabled it.
