Sergei Lavrov dismisses Ukraine peace plan and UN effort to revive grain deal

Russia’s foreign minister has told the UN that Ukraine’s proposed peace plan and the latest proposals to revive the Black Sea grain initiative were “not realistic”.

Sergei Lavrov spoke at a press conference on 23 September after a week of intense global diplomacy at the annual gathering of world leaders at UN headquarters in New York where Ukraine and its western allies sought to drum up support for Kyiv.

“It is completely not feasible,” Lavrov said of a 10-point peace blueprint promoted by Kyiv. “It is not possible to implement this. It’s not realistic and everybody understands this but, at the same time, they say this is the only basis for negotiations.”

The peace formula developed by the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, includes respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and the restoration of UN principles and adherence to international law.

Lavrov said the conflict would be resolved on the battlefield if Kyiv and its western allies stick to their stance.

The Russians are increasing the collective IQ of the remaining Ukrainians who weren't stupid enough to get press-ganged, a few hundred UkieBurgers a day.

Kiev’s 10-point plan (which Lavrov is referencing) includes the return of the Donbass AND Crimea to Ukraine, which Zelensky has called non-negotiable.

Given that there’s no way Russia’s going to voluntarily give up either one, this peace plan was dead in the water the moment it got published.

And I suspect Ukraine and Russia both know it. This is all a part of the PR battle for the West.

Agreed. Kudos for making the observation.

The "PR battle for the West" is occuring right here in the Free Republic forum, as "sides" battle with wordy salvos with an intensity which can be laughable, given that the world's governments are most likely not reading our little forum for great insights and strategies. When one examines more closely the "PR battle for the West," it is a larger war being fought on many fronts, and Ukraine-Russia is only one of many, all involving ginning up political support for money, more money and much more money to be tossed into the hole currently seen as....

Did Putin UkieBurger Prigozhin?

Do you think the plane was shot down?

Do you think it was a bomb onboard?

Or do you think it was just a catastrophic failure of the Embraer, and not a deliberate act?

BTW, Russians are still refusing to let the Brazilians (so much BRICS unity and cooperation?) join the investigation.

Aug 29 (Reuters) - Russia has informed Brazil's aircraft investigation authority that it will not probe the crash of the Brazilian-made Embraer (EMBR3.SA) jet that killed mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin under international rules "at the moment", the Brazilian agency told Reuters on Tuesday.

That was over 6 years ago, and Trump’s no longer president.

The peace plans mentioned by either side are not going to be listened to.

The war will go on.

Watch out Ukraine, sooner or later Russia is going to build another Black Sea Fleet to replace the last one and then you’ll be in trouble!

Day 31 of no F-16 delivery [09-24-2023], contrary to the hopium and Walls of Text posted by some Ukie cheerleaders.

Wha happen? F-16s not Stronk like bull?

Belgium hedges about its old F-16s:

Belgian premier reconsidering sending F-16 jets to Ukraine

The Belgians are worried about their new F-35s being flown in during a lightning storm, and how many they'll lose in that scenario.

If Russia desired peace, they would reject the terms offered and explain why but indicate a readiness to negotiate. Instead, Putin and Lavrov intend to win. With a larger population and reorganized weapons production and international deals with Iran and North Korea for more arms and munitions, they intend to build a large enough military to win through attrition as US and NATO war weariness sets in and starves Ukraine of essential support.

Ukraine's tragedy is not just to have Russia as their neighbor intent on her subjugation but to have bought and supported a phenomenally stupid and nasty Senator to be their ally and then the American President. Instead of seeking domestic tranquility, Biden has used political power to go after his opponents. The result is that he is unable to generate popular domestic support for Ukraine. Putin and Lavrov know this and are aiming to crush Ukraine on the battlefield.

I’m unafraid to share my opinion.
I think Putin had the Wagenrites shot out of the sky. I think that’s why the Russians have rejected Brazilian participation in an investigation of the crash. Putin murdering an opponent shocks who?
I just find it interesting that the Russophiles that frequent these parts won’t share their opinions. Makes me wonder if they have handlers they can’t displease. What other reason are they afraid to share their opinion here?
