Ketchup With Those Fries? Sure—as Long as It’s Anti-Woke (creating “a parallel economy for Americans sick of woke corporations“)
Yahoo ^ | September 12, 2023 | Kathryn Joyce

Posted on 09/22/2023 6:39:38 PM PDT by DoodleBob

…Michael Seifert, CEO of the conservative “America-first” marketplace PublicSq., and financier Omeed Malik, whose company, Colombier Acquisition Corp., had just merged with Seifert’s. That morning, their combined company was going public for the first time. When the clock hit 9:30, and Seifert pressed the button to trigger the opening bell, a crowd of supporters burst into applause, then a booming and sustained chant of “USA.” At CNBC’s trading floor news desk, a visibly annoyed Jim Cramer paused on air to let the chants play out while his co-host covered his ears.

All of it—the triumphant moment, the stadium chants, Cramer’s pained expression (especially Cramer’s pained expression)—was trumpeted across conservative media as an encapsulation of what the moment represented. Namely, that “the deplorables are taking over wall st!”; “The patriot economy has arrived”; or, as Seifert had put it earlier, that “We the People”—a specifically defined group—now had their own marketplace, as a first step toward creating “a parallel economy for Americans sick of woke corporations.”

Enter the parallel economy, which, depending on who defines the term, is anything from the restoration of free enterprise, a collection of grifting conservative knockoffs, a mass opting-out from the mainstream economy, or an illusion…In response to the deplatforming of various far-right influencers over the last several years, conservatives have increasingly begun arguing for a movement-size divestment from “companies that hate you,” in the words of The Daily Wire’s co-founder Jeremy Boreing

The Bud Light boycott took hold in a way its predecessors hadn’t, and corporate America seems “scared in a way they weren’t.”

French’s ketchup is noticeably tastier than Heinz...and it’s not supporting Kerry’s wife.

CNBC is Comcast, and Cramer is just one of its many tools.

Is that one of those sites that require registering before you get to see what is there? If so, it’s not a very good business model. Unless the business model is collect user information.

We make our own ketchup from our own tomatoes. It’s not difficult and it tastes much much better than the crud in the bottle.

Ya, I was going to try to question when has americas house ever not been divided? In many ways americas primary social energy source is the friction of a divided house. When one side becomes too powerful then rises another ideology and the old one fades.

If the ‘anti-woke’ portfolio is a response to the black rock ESG group. I like the idea but if it wasnt for double standards, the democrats would have no standards at all. So watch for the democrats to apply federal government RICO statutes and ‘lawfare’ against the new ‘anti-woke’ portfolio’s. They will quietly drive their ESG efforts underground but continue to operate while prosecuting anyone who challenges their dominance.

Tyrants, they’re very predictable.

First of course I harvest the tomatoes. Since they don’t all come on at once I puree them in a blender and then run then through a hand crank food mill (like a Foley) to remove the seeds etc which I save for next year. I pour this stuff into those food storage boxes and freeze it.

Once you have a puree it is all the same for making paste, marinara, or ketchup.

How far you cook it down and what spices you use depends on which thing you are making. For ketchup I use vinegar, sugar, and ground cloves. Start easy on the cloves as they are such a strong flavor. You can vary this to suit your taste. After your pot of ketchup has cooked down to the consistency you want, you may can it up. One note of caution, stir regularly as you can get a hard layer on the bottom of the pot. If this happens back the heat off and scrape with a metal spatula but be careful. That layer will insulate the stuff in the pot from the fire and when you clean off the bottom of the pot it will suddenly heat up and may belch hot tomato glop on you. Not fun.

Since there is quite a bit of vinegar, you can use the boiling water canning method. Follow all the proper instructions and safety procedures for canning!! My favorite reference for this is a book called “Putting Food By” by Hertzberg, Vaughan, and Greene. It has everything you could want to know about preserving anything.

I put my ketchup up in half pint jars since the I don’t use any preservatives. We found that we didn’t use whole pints fast enough to keep them from going off in the fridge once opened.
