U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey and his wife have been indicted in New York on federal bribery charges related to their allegedly “corrupt relationship” with three businessmen from their home state to protect those men and benefit the nation of Egypt.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. ET Friday to discuss the indictment against the senator and Nadine Menendez, which also charges the three businessmen: Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daibes.
The indictment says that the Democrat Menendez and his wife from at least 2018 through 2022 accepted “hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for using Menendez’s power and influence as Senator” to benefit the men and Egypt.
“Those bribes included cash, gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-who job, a luxury vehicle, and other things of value,” according to the indictment issued by a grand jury in Manhattan federal court.

There is little risk here for the Democrats to lose the seat, they will show Bob the door within a week and appoint his replacement the next day.
This is nothing new for this guy. Wasn’t he kicked out of the Senate for something similar and then was re-elected.
This is a resume enhancer for a demonrat.
This ‘indictment’ is a ruse.
It’s a pretend case, with democrats pretending to be ‘equal justice under the law’, iow, it’s a way for them to show that, they are going after Menendez (one of their own) in the same way they’re going after Trump. It’s a gimmick, and Menendez will get off the same way that he did years ago. A democrat crook is never going to get a corrupt democrat justice system to put him away or to lose his job.

I think they’re worried about New Jersey, so they want to replace him with somebody who can win. Menendez himself was a replacement for corrupt Senator Corzine. And they brought in retired Lautenburg to replace corrupt Torricelli.
The Republican almost took out the Democrat governor last year. And the Senate Majority leader was taken out by a truck driver spending no money.
So they’re going to cut their losses, force a resignation, get an appointment (and thus an incumbent), and not lose a Democrat senator. This is what they do.
Rats are far better at strategic political thinking and actually executing the plan then we are. Theya re always monolithic int their approach. We come unglued and divide up into factions over how a potential candidate (or incumbent!) parts his\her hair!

In case anyone was wondering why Garland would indict a DEMOCRAT, the answer is here. The government of Egypt is considered almost as evil as Trump is, by the Democrats, as they protect their Christian minority far better than Leftists protect Christians in the West. In fact, just this week, Egypt outlawed face coverings in their schools...impressive for a country that is 90% Muslim and run by a Muslim.
Yes and very possibly. I'm sure a replacement has already been cued up. Might be a black, female but we can be sure that the replacement will be a total waste of space.

Not so sure. If we have a true election Republican could win. In the last governor race it took a week before they called the election to Murphy, and the senior Dem state Senator lost to a guy who spent 10K on his election.
