Great writing here. I too was initially under the impression that it was weather that caused the punch-out. And I'm thinking, you know, for another $20 billion we could have put rubber gaskets and a retrofitted windshield wiper on that plane.
But no. The pilot lost track of the plane because of the weather. So ze - the Post has obviously misgendered zir here - ze landed on Terra Firma without the ability to tell where zir aircraft ended up. I'm only guessing earthward was the answer, but I'm not a pilot.
It gets worse. The Marines then hijacked a wrecker towing a '57 Chevy, tarped it up, and told the base commander it was fine, they'd recovered everything. "Oh really?" sez the CO, "I'm hearing an AM radio tuned to a country channel coming from that thing." Well, everybody knows Gen Z doesn't listen to Hank so the jig was up. The reporters, having been told that Trump was not to blame, were long since headed back to their Georgetown watering holes and there was a pissed off local with a shotgun at the main gate who was yelling that he wanted his Chevy back. The CO turns to the PAO and sez, "Son, yer on yer own."
Well, that's how it would have happened when I was in...

Right?
I want to hear what he has to say about many things! He seems real and genuine.

Was he instrument rated?

Only in our ‘woke’ Marine Corps will this story be believed. As a former Marine, we are in serious shape as a fighting force IF this is the full story. My guess is that the pilot pulled the ejection lever believing he/she was about to collide with an object straight ahead. Was it a UFO?

F-35s are equipped with transponders that allow the aircraft to be tracked. But military officials initially said the transponder did not appear to be working but were unsure why.”
Probably used Amazon batteries to save $.

I’m fairly certain these aircraft can fly above any bad weather.
My thoughts exactly and if he/she/they weren't already above the weather just pull back the stick, gas pedal to the floor and less than 30 seconds you're in beautiful clear blue skies. This stinks to high heaven.

He didn't have time to activate the beacon? It is automatically activated as soon as he ejects. He lost it in weather? That makes no sense, the F-35 has one of the most sophisticated GPS nav systems on the planet. Did he ice up, which should never happen if you are an experienced pilot or have his engine FODDED by ice? There is something very fishy about this.

ALL military pilots have instrument cards. And they have to be recertified annually. It was a PITA to lose half a day of work to go be bored in Instrument School but you could not fly without it.

The wreckage was found yesterday. The plane was obviously on AP and the ejection did not kick it out. This has happened many times.

Calm, climb, communicate. If they let a non Instrument rated and current pilot fly an F-35, they need to send the pilots commander to Levinworth for 20 years.
How hard is it to keep it in the doughnut and communicate?
I smell diversity diapers on this pilot.

Yea, yea, we know, the guards were asleep, and the cameras were magically turned off. Oh, it’s an F-35. Oh, OK then. Same kinda thing. It’s somewhere training Uranian pilots.

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet but maybe the “malfunction” was the pilot his/her/its/ self? These geniuses are all clotshotted and a mental hickup wouldn’t be out of the question. Seeing bad weather? Not doing the preflights? Not knowing the heading? Sounds like a whole string of mental foobars? There have been plenty of commercial pilot fade outs reported that have obviously been traced to the clotshots. Not the plane’s fault in any case-—it kept flying.
