Commercial vessels have resumed using Ukraine’s main port of Odesa without asking permission from Russia for the first time since the war began—showing just how much the balance of power has changed in the Black Sea.
By imposing an asymmetrical war that relies on domestically produced naval drones and missiles, and that targets Russians ships in their own home bases, Ukraine has eroded much of Russia’s vaunted naval superiority...
Outnumbered 12 to one by the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Ukrainian Navy wasn’t considered a meaningful force when Russia invaded... Ukraine quickly scuttled its flagship frigate... so that the vessel wouldn’t fall to Russian forces.
In Odesa, port operations had ceased. Residents could see enemy warships with the naked eye. Massed on the horizon, the Russian Navy fired artillery at the city and maneuvered with impunity...
Today, Russian warships no longer dare to venture into the northwestern part of the Black Sea, deterred by Ukrainian coastal missiles and extensive minefields. The Russian Black Sea Fleet itself has suffered heavy losses as a result of a series of successful Ukrainian strikes, with no areas of the Black Sea safe for it anymore.
Ukrainian attacks in recent weeks targeted Russian warships in the open seas and in their main home ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk. Last week’s missile strike on a Sevastopol dry dock destroyed a Kilo-class submarine, one of only six that Russia operated in the Black Sea, as well as a Ropucha-class large landing ship that Russia had planned to use for an amphibious landing...
“It’s very clear that the Russians no longer have the initiative in the Black Sea because of what has been a frankly ingenious approach by the Ukrainian Navy... There’s a really important shift,” said Michael Petersen, founding director of the Russia Maritime Studies Institute...

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This war has demonstrated that in the modern technological era naval surface combatants and armored land vehicles are obsolete death traps.
There are reports that Russia is moving many of their remaining ships to ports on the Azov in order to keep them safe from Ukrainian attack.
In short, Russia’s navy is surrendering the Black Sea.
“This war has demonstrated that in the modern technological era naval surface combatants and armored land vehicles are obsolete death traps.”
No, it doesn’t. This is because Russia doesn’t have any ‘modern technological era naval surface combatants and armored land vehicles’.
They sometimes deploy newer models of older designs but they’re always based on Soviet-era technology.
Propaganda. Only morons believe this crap.
the fact that ships can now freely operate out of Odessa, without Russian interference, suggests that this report is actually true
of course, Russian shills have trouble accepting that ...
Update on the conflict in Ukraine for September 18, 2023
- Ukrainian offensive operations remain stagnant along the line of contact with Russian counterattacks overturning what superficial progress they do make;
- The Western media citing US and other NATO member state officials admits Ukrainian forces lacked the proper training to conduct a successful offensive;
- As Western sources begin admitting to Ukraine's catastrophic losses in men and materiel, they also admit Russian losses are near all time lows;
- The collective West also acknowledges that the amount of ammunition and weapons Ukraine requires is beyond the West’s ability to provide both in the short and intermediate future;
- In order to provide such levels of material support, the West would need to significantly mobilize its population, industry, and military, a prospect that isn’t even being seriously considered let alone planned;
Prove anything that’s in the article. You zeepers are brainwashed and don’t give a damn about America.
It seems that the future of war is with the drones. Unfortunately, China has the undisputed advantage on that. The Ukrainians have a lot of experience using them though. I think when this is over, the military academics will need to study what they did, and possibly tap the knowledge base of the Ukrainians who have the experience.
The drones that the Russians and Ukrainians are using are mostly rudimentary and makeshift. Try to imaging the 4th or 5th generation of drones that will have multiple targeting systems in each device. Then try to imagine yourself in a naval surface combatant or an armored land vehile. Also drones are not the only lethal byproduct of this modern technological era. The silicon chip has changed virtually everything. Not only in warfare but in every aspect of culture and civilization.
Instead of Tokyo Rose, we have Melitopol Megan.
love how the Russian shills get upset anytime anything that suggests Ukraine is succeeding is put out
petulant denialism ... yet another indication that Russia must be losing
In this case a Tokyo Rose would be supporting Russia and posting in America, she would not be posting in America in support of America’s position against Russia.
Yes, true. But it’s a war that is not over yet. Kind of hard to draw firm conclusions until it is.
One thing we need to do is “steal” China’s hypersonic missile tech. China isn’t sending missiles to Ukraine, but Russia has used theirs in Ukraine. Hopefully the shards from those missiles are now in American labs.
I suspect it’s the rocket fuel that is the most important part of the missile.
And yet, somehow, the exact opposite occurs. The DC-deep-state trolls feed us a daily diet of nonsense, simplistic, Ukraine-Uber-Alles propaganda.
There is no opposite to it, Tokyo Rose would be promoting the Russians to an American audience.
You are the Tokyo Rose.
LOL. You guys always devolve these debates back to a 3rd grade level. "I know you are, but what am I?!"
