You can expect the battery to run down twice as fast for about a month or two until they fix it like always.

I’m not sure which is the most evil company on Earth.

It’s a tossup between Apple and Alphabet.

Have been reading the new iPhone is not all that innovative and worth the expense.

But did the fat, black Mother Nature approve it?

I still have a Nokia from about 5 years ago, and it does everything I could want, including calling and receiving calls, texting, watching videos and connecting to just about anything on the internet. With 128 gigabytes, it beats most iPhones in circulation, and I take videos at over 2k resolution, photos at 4k resolutions, and access to all the Android apps in the universe, and a battery charge that lasts as much as when I bought it 5 years ago; I can go 2+ days without having to recharge. IOW, there is nothing in the new iPhones or the new iOS that I need or want. My wife has a bit nicer phone, with the Samsung S21.

When it comes to 'new and upgraded' with new features, it's all a marketing gimmick and a way for people to keep buying 'new stuff' that they don't need. Each phone that I've had, I have not needed to upgrade, and when I do upgrade,it's been because of a cracked screen or some other damage.

will “enhance the things you do every day,”

I’d be happy if my iPhone 12 did not burn my hand and made it to noon before the battery dies.

Every time I hear of a new update they seem to focus on new emojis, FCOL. Who cares about new emojis? What’s really in the update?

We both have an iPhone 13, but we don't even use 1/10th of the features. Nice size screen for texts, phone calls, map and Internet lookups. Most of the battery draining features I have turned off, including many of the "monitoring" options (thanks to Payette Forward on YT). We can get 4-6 days off of a fully charged battery before dropping below 40% charge remaining. Far better than the Samsungs we had before.

We really don't need any of the new iOS features, and I wish we didn't have to upgrade to iOS 17. I suspect we might be allowed a delay for a period of time, but it will be forced on us eventually. And as mentioned before, battery life will likely take a hit once the update is installed.

As mentioned before, I am going to hold off installing iOS 17 on our iPhone 13s until we absolutely have to. I see nothing so far as a feature that we would want.

That said, what I really want is the option to remove the camera and/or flashlight icons from the lock screen. I would also want to be able to disable the "swipe left" feature on the lock screen that brings up the camera.

It is far too easy to inadvertently wake the screen and open up the camera as I am putting it into my pocket. Not fun at all to grab the iPhone from my pocket and find the camera has been trying to focus, causing the phone to get quite warm.

I guess it’s time to replace my iPhone 8 and my wife’s iPhone X, as neither one is supported by iOS 17.
