Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) defended former President Trump’s policy on Russia on Sunday, after praise from Russian President Vladimir Putin spurred criticism from others in the GOP.
“The idea that Trump is some type of lackey for Putin — that’s just false,” DeSantis said told Howard Kurtz on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz”.
“He had a very, very strong Russia policy,” DeSantis added. “He actually provided a lot of support, defensive support for Ukraine. And so I think the idea that somehow he wants to be buddy-buddy with Putin, I know there’s circles that say that, but I don’t really see that as being the case. I think he’s been strong.”
DeSantis continues to poll in second place behind Trump in the Republican primary, but has struggled to close the gap despite Trump’s mounting legal troubles.

RDS knows people accuse him of being soft on Russia too because he’s not in the blank check/escalation crowd.
DeSantis is damning Trump with faint praise.
As I read this - RDS is saying that Trump supports Zelensky and the war in Ukraine.
A different authoritative voice from Florida is required to clear things up....

The praise came from Putin’s Double who has been making more and more statements on his own. Putin says he is satisfied with the Double’s performance. But the real Putin has yet to comment on the Double’s performance with Lil Kimmy.
No one’s paying attention to RDS. Tgis is from the Hill. They wish Trump cared about this.
