IMO, it will be making greater efforts with the U.S. even if the measurement commences as late as the Clinton era simply due to the better returns.
I can believe this. The Chinese have a very long view and have seen the society-wide weakness and decay in the west. They have won Many incremental battles where their investments have paid off a hundred or five hundred to one. Going back to the Clinton White House, they obtained multi stage missile technology that would have cost some hundreds of millions, if not billions to develop, for a few hundred thousand dollars stuffed into politicians’ pockets.

Canada has been captured by the CCP without firing a shot. When the earliest Covid cases were spreading out from WuHan the news mentioned a few places like East Coast cities where Chinese secretly came in by plane with false records of their origins or went to a layover city at a smaller airport and then back to the big city without being on a record of the big airport arrivals. Followed by huge increases in cases.
A mystery was why one part of Italy also had Covid more than other places. It turns out the Chinese had bought out all the textile and clothing manufacturing companies in that part of Italy and now totally controlled the area and dictated to politicians there.
