After the Senate voted to acquit Attorney General Ken Paxton of all charges levied against him by the House General Investigating Committee on Saturday, several members of the House who voted against impeaching Paxton called on House Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, to resign.
In an interview with The Center Square, Rep. Steve Toth, R-Spring, said Phelan should apologize and resign. He said the acquittal “isn’t just an exoneration [of Paxton]. It’s a repudiation of the Texas House. The Texas House owes not just Texas but the entire United States an apology for what they did.
”This was so wrong. We were told there would be evidence upon evidence upon evidence upon witnesses upon witnesses and there was nothing. It is a complete embarrassment for Texas, the Texas House, the speaker. The speaker needs to resign.”

Bingo.....it’s not just the speaker who has the go.
More of this…
Rove is a water carrier for the Bush Cabal, hired on consignment by Fox and the Murdoch Clan. They are bad news
Go after the House leadership for criminal conspiracy
This was all about George P losing the election
“Doesn’t Phelan have a alcohol or drug problem? I watched some video of him last year and he seemed ‘Bidenish’.”
And it was just after that episode and calls for Phelan to step down as speaker that the House moved forward with the impeachment proceedings. News coverage of Phelan’s strange behavior was immediately memory-holed in favor of the coverage that Paxton would be the one out the door.
He was drunk on the job. Ken Paxton said he should resign, and not long thereafter the House impeached him.
Exactly!
Love it!
The only way he’ll go is when the coroner tags his toe.
After winning impeachment fight, Paxton still faces felony fraud case and an FBI investigation
Federal law experts and former prosecutors contacted by The Texas Tribune say the impeachment result isn’t likely to alter the course of Paxton’s securities fraud case. As far as the FBI investigation, they said, witness testimony in the impeachment hearings could help federal officials evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their case.
In the state case, Paxton faces two counts of securities fraud, a first-degree felony that carries a punishment of up to 99 years in prison, ...
I also wonder how much he was involved in 1/6.
There have been some interesting stuff about Rove on Twitter/X for a couple of years.
There is one word that strikes fear into the heart of every politican...
Recall...
Put this word out to your local paper’s editorial space.
It works.
“The Speaker is BELOW a RINO....he’s a DEMOCRAT and he gives his fellow Democrats CHAIRMANSHIPS!”
Well, slightly in his defense, that’s been a Texas tradition. But that was then...when state-level Democrats were nearly as conservative as Republicans. Now it’s night and day, and state-level Democrats here in Texas are just as bad as national Democrats.
In the State Senate they responded to that challenge by simply lowing the threshold for overriding a filibuster so that the Democrats could not, on their own, block legislation. Again, in the past, Democrats did not behave that way here - now they do, so the Senate took care of that problem.
Now House Republicans have some explaining to do - 75% of them voted to impeach a FELLOW REPUBLICAN without even having his conviction lined up (obviously). It would be like Pelosi’s House voting to Impeach Biden, just to have Shumer’s Senate given them the finger...in other words, it would NEVER happen, and never has.
This is just weird - even pure corruption makes it difficult to understand how 75% OF REPUBLICANS could vote that way in House.
Too true; not to mention, an obscene sense of entitlement.
One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

My favorite quote from the impeachment is Buzbee saying
“The Bush era is over in Texas. They can go back to Maine!”
“Karl Rove orchestrated this.”
In a sane world this acquittal would be the equivalent of a going out of business sale for the Bushy-Rovian Good Ole Boyz Club. However, like Lyme Disease is a result of a Tick bite, it’s going to take some more medicine to completely heal the State of Texas.
Here’s a link to an article telling a fraction of Rove’s dirty antics. I agree with AG Paxton’s attorney the Bush family and Karl Rove too, needs to move to the home where their ideals were formed, Maine and stay outta Texas.

Mine as well!
“The sham impeachment coordinated by the Biden Administration . . .”
From Ken Paxton’s official statement after the acquittal.
