The Texas State Senate will vote at 10:30am Austin time, 11:30am Pacific. This will conclude the impeachment trial of Texas AG Ken Paxton.
11:30 would be Eastern
What’s the expected outcome here?
Tick Tock /Vanity
Texans need to be flooding their state senators’ phone lines demanding acquital!
Tough one. Since this is mostly political (and personal), the facts don’t really matter. However, do the reps and the real powers want this to harm the state party? Coin toss
Hopefully the Bush family loses. Paxton beat LIL Georgie P soundly and that is not allowed. Paxton is not entitled to win.
PING to live thread on Paxton verdict
Abbott has been mostly silent about Paxton. I don’t think that bodes well, but who knows. Maybe the reps will show some balls and acquit Paxton.
The prosecution admitted they filed a baseless report on Paxton with the FBI.
They had no evidence of wrongdoing, just a “feeling.”
I am not being facetious.
Surely some state senators have announced their decision already.
Old habits from this former Californian lol
Most of the articles are straight out unproven. His biggest risk is on whistleblower retaliation. This is a weird situation where they can vote to both convict on the article but not sustain the article to remove Paxton from office. Standard is reasonable doubt.
[[They had no evidence of wrongdoing, just a “feeling.”]]
So in other-words- a slam dunk conviction according to dems
I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it
Will we ever know for whose benefit Bush ally Johnny Sutton has represented the whistleblower group with zero payment and no fee agreement for three years?
Can’t have this thread without quoting the truism, “there are no coincidences in Austin”
Just a note...
10:30 Austin time is 8:30 Pacific
I don’t know why he was so interested in Nate Paul but the House didn’t really prove anything there either that I saw.
Indeed. Mentally I am still in California when I am in Georgia right now.
They did this for George P. Bush and to get the Bush Cartel back in to the game in a fashion.
The most powerful office in Texas is not the governor, it’s the Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and he is a Paxton supporter. If you want to get a bill though the Texas Legislature and the Lt. Gov. says no that’s that.
Buzbee demolished the prosecution who except for the shrill lady lawyer were so messed up they “rested” their case prematurely. Rusty Hardin can still do trial work but Dick DeGurien (sp) is way past his due date. He totally botched a case I know of after taking $500k from the client. The guy was going in for years but another attorney got him probation at the sentencing hearing (never happens). The federal prosecutors were livid as the guy walked past the two US Marshalls who had been waiting behind him. The attorney that got him off was Tony Buzbee.
