Russia's defence minister merely shrugged when asked whether his forces will win the war, in a sign of just how bad the country's invasion of Ukraine is going.
Sergei Shoigu, who has overseen his troops' startling losses and battlefield failures, didn't exude confidence in the military's abilities in an interview on Russian TV yesterday.
Appearing deflated, he comically raised his shoulders with his arms outstretched as he said 'we have no other option' when asked whether Russia will win the war.
It marked a stark shift from his language 18 months ago where he said 'domination had to be won'.
Shoigu, who faced a torrent of angry criticism from the late Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin for his 'incompetence', said: 'We survived the spring and summer campaigns.
'[Russian troops] are defending what they need to defend.'
-snip-
The crestfallen Shoigu added: 'The troops are engaged in keeping active defence in the right and necessary directions. In some areas it is more difficult, in others it is easier, but I can say that the guys act confidently, the commanders act confidently and reliably, reliably defend what we need to defend today.

The ONLY way that Russia will “win” this war is to declare war, have a general mobilization and actually conduct an actual offensive war instead of the “limited” military operation they’ve been pursuing. They obviously haven’t learned the same lesson the Americans also didn’t learn about perils of “limited” wars such as Korea and Vietnam.
Hmmm, next we’ll be reading about a reporter’s sudden accidentally death?
Ukraine already won. They secured their independence. Now its deciding where the borders will be.
These comments about “surviving” and being on defense can’t be true, because Ukraine was already “annihilated” and “Vlad” will never allow any setbacks.

To be fair, it could also be a massive bluff/misdirection on their part.
I forgot to add that the Russian defense minister must be part of the Nuland globohomo EU biolabs conspiracy.

A piece of advice to Putin’s defence minister Sergei Shoigu: Stay away from open windows
“The ONLY way that Russia will ‘win’ this war is to declare war, have a general mobilization and actually conduct an actual offensive war instead of the ‘limited’ military operation they’ve been pursuing.”
Uh-oh; the worm has turned: Now you — an unabashed supporter of Russia in its war against Ukraine — are no longer saying that Russia has been kicking Ukraine’s butt and that Ukraine’s defeat was all but assured; NOW, you are saying that the only way Russia can win is if it goes all-in, full mobilization, with no holds barred.
You guys sound like you’re in panic mode.
I can see an East and west in Ukraine...just like North and South in Korea....as a way to stop this stupid war which has produced nothing but grief.
What’s with that suit and tie? Looks like something from 1974.
Perhaps as Uncle Joe spilled the beans on back at the start of this, the ending was decided before it started—and that is an eventual agreement whereby Putin takes the Russian-speaking regions at some time before or during WWIII.

Look, if you had the intellectual discipline to actually review MY comments (instead of STUPIDLY CONFLATING the comments of everybody who doesn’t wholeheartedly cheer the Ukraine regime and the globalist/neocon support of this war) you’d see that I believe this war should never have happened and, now that it has happened, that we should have no part in it…financially or otherwise.
“Maybe, it depends on the outcome of this war. There have been too many short-term states to list.”
Nope. If they were trying to conquer Ukraine, they failed. It’s over for that. Ukraine is armed and dangerous now.

You phony; you are one of the biggest war cheerleaders for Russia and against Ukraine on FR. Your posting history makes that abundantly clear. If you were so opposed to this war you’d have spent the last 18 months on FR calling for Russia to stop its invasion and withdraw; but, of course, you haven’t.
