Former President Trump is defending his record on COVID-19, saying he never got the “credit that I deserved” on how he managed the pandemic as president.
“I got a lot of good marks on economy. I got a lot of good marks on a lot of things. Rebuilding the military, getting rid of ISIS, the biggest tax cuts in history,” Trump said in an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” airing Thursday. “I never got, I think, the credit that I deserved on COVID.”
With much of his political base skeptical of coronavirus vaccines, Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has tried to tread carefully when touting the success of his Operation Warp Speed, which developed highly effective and safe vaccines in record time.

Not just the virus itself, the origins of the virus, the feedback from Governors, govt officials, medical doctors, etc. People seem to forget that in July/August 2020 Trump brought in Dr Scott Atlas and the other doctor who worked at Harvard who did not agree with Fauci and were trying to get accurate information to the public.
Whoever the eventual candidate will be (likely Trump, but wait and see, based on the whole lawfare scheme nationwide), voting especially for the most most conservative candidates -- especially at local levels -- is important, and then in the general voting "against" Democrats is the best option.
Cry me a River
100%
I don’t think any of the ventilators pushed through by the DPA were ever used.
The Covid revisionists of Free Republic are hilarious in their denial that they were part of the problem.
This place was full of anti freedom, autocratic thinking, medical snobbery, and lastly a scared little bitch mentality.
It was pathetic, so instead of looking in the mirror for a scapegoat, they take the easy way out and blame Trump.
Highly effective and safe vackseen?
Neither claim is true and everyone knows it.
I don’t “blame” President Trump.
He made major errors—like all humans do.
Bragging about those blunders is another blunder.
When you are in a hole the first thing you need to do is stop digging!
‘It is just a shame we own the overwhelming number of firearms in the country’
and WE are all going to come together as one big organized armed force to take on the government tanks and rocket launchers and all the other stuff they have; right...?
That is the unvarnished truth. At the time, I attributed a lot of it to the fact that there were so many people here who were more at risk due to their age. But there was no reasoning with them about the need to lock the rest of us down.
Anyone who thinks Free Republic was free from COVID Karenism is just sadly mistaken
‘All anyone was doing in that pharma fog of war was guessing.’
you’re missing the point; upon further review, Trump has come back defending his actions...which of course indicates that if he had it to do again, knowing what he now knows, he’d do the same as the first time...
It would be very interesting to go back and see what was said by whom on Free Republic in March April May and June of 2020.
And then see what those same people are saying now about covid and Trump.
Reality distortion.
Does it matter? Very few people knew what they were talking about.
“Trump was as clueless as 99% of Americans, and he had to listen to the experts and scientists and drug companies and the politics of the times.”
This Guy did his research in real time and found compelling information negativing a declaration of safety.
Moreover the FDA’s emergency procedure for rapid approval for the gene therapy injection in question required a finding that no effective therapy, or therapeutic medicament, was available. By early April 2029, This Guy knew that thus was definitely not the case (first hydrochloriquine, later also ivermectin, etc.).
Trump is smart and could have learned the truth of these matters at least as quickly as This Guy, and taken swift and early action. Instead of stopping the train, he got on board as it left the station. Millions of people suffered and/or died in the wake of this dreadful mistake on Trump’s part.
The consensus in the early days of Covid (say March 2020) was that quarantine was the proper approach.
I don’t recall anyone recommending shutdowns.
I love Trump and will vote for him twice more next year - but he needs to put a sock in it regarding COVID - except to condemn iden and the Dems for their tyrannical policies of forced lockdowns and injections. He should promise the restoration of federal employment in old positions and ranks to all of those fired for not getting the shots, and jawbone state and local governments and industry to do the same. Otherwise, this is not a winning strategy for him.
Thank you.
Fair point, he should not be bragging.
