As the House returns to session Sept. 12, there’s increasing talk of the Republican majority making moves toward impeaching President Joe Biden.
House Republicans have been investigating Biden’s son, Hunter, for months. Their primary focus involves money Hunter Biden received while serving on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, while then-Vice President Joe Biden was helping shape Ukraine policy. So far, this has produced no evidence of wrongdoing by the president.
A House impeachment inquiry — the first formal step toward impeachment — would expand the House’s investigative focus more directly to alleged misdeeds by the president himself. Having a formal inquiry underway could increase investigators’ ability to demand documents from the White House.
Complicating matters, the impeachment discussion is coming as congressional leaders try to pass spending bills that could prevent a government shutdown at the end of September, when current funding runs out. It will also come as an end-of-September deadline set by prosecutors to indict Hunter Biden on a separate gun charge approaches.
This collision of developments is forcing the House speaker, Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to navigate between the right flank of his own caucus, which includes many lawmakers who want both deep spending cuts and a Biden impeachment investigation, and moderate House Republicans, whose opinions on those issues range from less enthusiastic to firmly opposed. McCarthy’s five-seat House majority hangs in the balance.
So how did we get here? What would an impeachment investigation involve? And where could it all end up?
Here are some answers. What have House Republicans said about impeaching President Biden? In late August, McCarthy told Larry Kudlow of Fox Business News that if the Biden administration fails to turn over certain documents his conference is seeking, the House could launch a formal impeachment investigation.

Thank you for your comment.
I really appreciate your resource.
Once again, the democrats destroyed 100s of years of “normal” when they weaponized impeachment against President Trump.
Now every president going forward will be impeached by the other side if the other side holds control of the house.
My pleasure.
I’ve watched a number of Sam’s interviews. He is spot on and totally aware of all involved. He is old school CIA 30+ years.
He has years and years of managing foreign assets.
The other people in the discussion are very knowledgeable too.
Republicans have charged Biden........ and his family...... made millions off shell companies Hunter Biden formed when his father was vice president. Hunter had business deals with an energy company in the Ukraine, received a discounted stake in a private-equity firm in China, and did consulting for a Romanian real-estate magnate.
The president has denied any involvement in his son’s business dealings. But ........Republicans claim at least a dozen Biden family members could be involved in a scheme to benefit financially......... from Biden’s public office.
The GOP also claims Biden sat in on at least 24 calls with Hunter’s influence peddling business partners and was referred to as ‘the big guy’ by Hunter’s business associates. And they say Joe Biden used pseudonyms to discuss his activities related to Ukraine with his son Hunter during his time as vice president.
The true facts on the table are that Hunter was contininually hired to get favors done, and typically some phonecall occurred with ‘dad’.
The question is...did any real favors occur, or did Joe just call and BS for twelve minutes and talk about his college football years.
If you can’t prove the favor was accomplished, then it doesn’t matter if Joe received money or not.
Adding to this...it’s just odd that Tucker Carlson has nailed down a interview segment with Putin at this point. It may be that the FSB (former KGB) has tapes of Joe’s conversations and various favor listings...sharing that with Tucker. In that case...the impeachment becomes impossible for Joe Biden to avoid.

Of course not. That was part of the Bidens con game........the wily Bidens had to have deniability.
They DID talk about weather and possibly Jill Biden’s latest fashion faux pas.
The raison d’etre for Hunter putting his father on the phone was to show the oligarchs how easy
it was to get access to Joe Biden........ to get a US govt policy turned in their favor.......for a price.
We don’t need evidence. The Dems had zero evidence when they impeached Trump so those are the rules now.
The entire Biden defense relies on plausible deniability
Yes....but there’s enough dirt dug up already out there......so p/d gets shot down.
“If you can’t prove the favor was accomplished, then it doesn’t matter if Joe received money or not.“
The Constitution says that members of the State Department, essentially including VPOTUS and POTUS, cannot accept foreign gifts. Now, that might happen, as does with dignitaries exchanging cultural items, but they have to be declared.
Cash and uncut diamonds aren’t cultural items, and Joe Biden didn’t declare them. It matters not if his bag man collected and took a cut, then placed the remaining funds in a Delaware trust, or used them to pay a politicians bills. It’s still violates the clause. It doesn’t matter how many bank accounts they transfer through, or if other family members get the money to pay for Joe’s expenses.
Most importantly, and never mentioned in the media, is the connection to the emails and laptop. IF classified material that Joe kept was copied into emails, and given to any entity that transferred money to the family, THAT IS A SPY RING.
They keep trying to sell us money for favors, but with 19 boxes of classified material, and the FBI, CIA, Congress, and the DOJ dragging their heels, I suspect it’s just old fashioned selling secrets stuff as well as influence. They don’t want the American people to know that they hoisted this petard upon us in 2020, and they knew he was a spy.
“Politifact dug up some answers? Lemme guess: Orange Man Bad...Orange Man Bad...”
No. The article was lengthy so I excerpted. But, much info was provided regarding info & procedure:
1 point addressed: “What’s the difference between an impeachment inquiry vote and an impeachment vote?
A vote to approve an impeachment inquiry, as McCarthy is contemplating, is a preliminary step and does not lead inevitably to a formal impeachment vote.
Specific charges need not be presented before a vote to launch an inquiry; the inquiry is designed to collect evidence.
Another point found interring: “The scope can change in the course of an investigation,” said Stephen Griffin, a Tulane University law professor.
Formally impeaching the president would take place in a subsequent vote, after the investigation has been completed and after the committee responsible for the inquiry advances specific impeachment charges — such as obstruction of justice or bribery — to the full House.”
As well as this McCarthy quote:
“If they provide us the documents, there wouldn’t be a need for an impeachment inquiry,” McCarthy told Kudlow. “But if they withhold the documents and fight like they have now to not provide to the American public what they deserve to know, we will move forward with impeachment inquiry when we come back into session.”
Formalizing an impeachment effort would draw the investigation beyond the actions of his son and closer to the president. This could involve any way Joe Biden could have benefited from, or advanced, an alleged Ukrainian bribery scheme; bribery is specifically listed in the Constitution as grounds for impeachment.”
Seriously?
I mean ... just look at what has been going on with the Trump impeachment/s up to now.
The only difference will be that the Biden impeachment will proceed on the basis actual fact and demonstrable evidence
The Democrats impeached Trump for investigating whether Biden took bribes from Ukrainians.
I seem to recall something during the 2020 basement campaign that the Biden finances were hard to track because it was all tied into a subchapter S corporation. Monies flowed to the sub S allowing Crooked Joe to only report income that he wanted to report while the pot grew bigger and bigger, undisclosed.
I’m not inclined to look, but I wonder if Sen Biden had any influence in shaping Sub S laws.
I also wonder if the expensive mansions are in Joe’s name or the Sub S.

1st. Russian mercenaries accused of using violence to corner diamond trade
By Mary Ilyushina

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/12/06/wagner-group-mercenaries-africa-diamonds/
A Russian mercenary group that has gained international attention for its role in the war in Ukraine is also active in one of Africa’s poorest countries, using violence and extortion in an effort to corner its extremely lucrative diamond industry, according to a new report issued by Europe-based researchers.
Individuals linked to the WAGNER GROUP, which is most infamous for its brutal tactics in eastern Ukraine, have set up a shell company in the Central African Republic (CAR) to secure and sell diamonds, say researchers from two groups, France-based All Eyes on Wagner and the London-based Dossier Center, sponsored by exiled Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, and European Investigative Collaborations, a network of news organizations.
The report says that fighters linked to the WAGNER GROUP are forcing the country’s impoverished miners and collectors to turn over their gems or sell them exclusively to the shell company, Diamville, and that the company trades in diamonds that violate the rules of the Kimberley Process, an international initiative that seeks to prevent the marketing of diamonds from conflict zones.
Wagner Group fighters previously have been accused of involvement in armed activities in CAR and of exploiting the country’s gold and diamond resources. The report, which was shared with The Washington Post and other media, provides new details about the network of companies and Wagner operations in the country.
“Wherever there are mines and diggers, these people [linked to Wagner] are there, armed. When someone [a gold or diamond miner] comes across something good, they go to that person. … There have even been assassinations like that, to take other people’s merchandise,” the report says, citing industry insiders in CAR.
The report’s authors sought comment from Yevgeniy Prigozhin, the Russian tycoon behind the Wagner Group, but he largely dismissed their request. According to the report, he said: “[Diamville] is owned by Emmanuel Macron via a frontman. Racketeering is conducted by special NATO units called SDFA (steal diamonds from Africa).”
When contacted for this article, PRIOZHIN said: “Everything you have listed is unsubstantiated Western propaganda. We have already presented our reports, which state that Russian instructors and other citizens of the Russian Federation have never carried out the above activities, namely, they have never been engaged in the sale of diamonds from conflict zones outside the norms of the Kimberley Process and have not participated in massacres and attacks on civilians.”
The report’s authors also contacted Diamville and individuals identified as working for the Wagner Group in CAR, but they did not respond to requests for comment.
Diamond smuggling is widespread in CAR, not just by individuals linked to Wagner, with gems often entering foreign markets through neighboring countries, mainly Cameroon, Chad and Sudan, and via air routes with the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon, the report says.

“Diamonds fuel Russia’s war
Marques de Morais sees the Kimberly Process as particularly flawed in the face of current geopolitical considerations. He believes Russia’s involvement in the African diamond trade via the Russian Alrosa corporation helps to finance the war of aggression in Ukraine — while continuing to exploit locals as well.
“There is a conflict. There is the exploitation of local communities, abuses with the local communities in the extraction of diamonds by Russia’s Alrosa group,” the journalist and author said.
Marques de Morais believes Russia’s involvement in the African diamond trade helps to finance its war of aggression in Ukraine
The anonymous diamonds expert who spoke with DW agreed with that assessment. “Targeting the diamond revenue from the Alrosa operation would be a key issue to avoid the quick cash flow injected into their [Ukraine] war effort,” he said,
“The Belgian prime minister is preparing to send Belgian soldiers [to Ukraine] while Belgium continues to participate and provide Russia with money, with the revenue from the sale of its rough diamonds in Antwerp — blood diamonds. Isn’t there a conflict of interest?”
Yes, it absolutely did as indicated when article posted to Free Republic.
