LIFEBOAT
One of the great World War II films was LIFEBOAT, about the ordeal faced by survivors of a passenger ship that was sunk by a Nazi U-Boat in the middle of the Atlantic. The film details their struggle for survival in a small lifeboat, fighting the elements, thirst and then fighting against each other.
Each person has their own ideas about how to navigate the little boat: they argue about who should be in charge; and they find little things to fight over even when they run out of things to fight over. Eventually they come to understand that their only hope is in putting aside their differences and working toward the common goal of survival. They learn that they cannot possibly get the boat to safety unless they all adopt that unifying goal. In a sense the entire world is a LIFEBOAT, and we are all like the survivors in that film. We cannot solve the great problems which confront humanity--hunger, disease and war--unless we unite in a common effort to find meaningful remedies to these plagues. It is also true in every other sphere of life, in the family and in the workplace. When people unite to achieve common goals, and are willing to give and take, and think of each other's needs...then there is no limit to the good things they can accomplish together. As Frank Purdue once said: "There's no limit to the quality you can build into a chicken". Chaplain Mitch Schranz

The horror that people rarely but sometimes have to face, the lifeboat decisions where there is no escape from having to make the ultimate choices and decisions.

Good evening, radu...and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Did the folks turn out for the museum today? Weather still too hot for moving about?
Keep you busy, or did you get to rest a bit after mowing yesterday?

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

Howdy, Kathy.
I hope today’s been a better day weather-wise up there. The Lake Hood cam has been “sick” for a while and now it’s dead. :-(
Mostly cloudy here but cooler, and the cooler is what counts most. LOL Had a heavy rain shower a little while ago and now it’s sprinkling.

Alfred Hitchcock had a tradition of sorts. He would briefly appear in every one of his movies. Maybe he’d be a man walking on a sidewalk, a man standing in a line, or something like that.
But how to appear in ‘Lifeboat’? He couldn’t well be a passenger on the lifeboat. Then Hitchcock figured it out. He’d appear in a newspaper that one of the survivors was holding.
Clever, eh?

We were quite busy today and it made up for yesterday being dead.
And dead is what I am this evening. LOL Mowing last evening was a mistake. My back hurt enough to make it hard to go to sleep, then I woke up at 5:00 and have been awake since. A good thing I did mow, though, because it wouldn’t have gotten done this evening. More rain tomorrow, too, so the grass would have gotten away from me. One of the ‘guardian angels’ would have had to do it with the big mower.
But though I’m beat, it was a really good day. Lots of fun folks.
Did you get some more big bird food today? Or do you have enough to get by a little longer? Gotta keep your jays happy. :-)

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Glad you finally have cooler weather.
It’s cool here as well. Almost an inch in the gauge this morning.
I had to go into the office late morning and sprinkles here turned into a bit of rain as I drove.
But the sun is trying to come out now.
Hope they get the Lake Hood camera fixed soon.
