Are the gloves starting to come off? If a recent post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, is any indication, high-profile Republicans and conservatives are starting to attack former President Donald Trump over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic while he was in office.

But so far, few on the right have raised the issue as they have been hesitant to attack Trump directly. Things appear to be changing, as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp posted a response to a video the former president made in which he decried leftists trying to bring back mask mandates.
In the video, Trump said that “left wing lunatics are trying very hard to bring back COVID lockdowns and mandates with all of their sudden fearmongering” about the emergence of new coronavirus variants. “They want to restart the COVID hysteria so they can justify more lockdowns, more censorship, more illegal dropboxes, more mail in ballots, and trillions of dollars in payoffs” in the leadup to the upcoming election.
In a post on Saturday, Kemp wrote:
The fact is former president Trump led the opposition to my decision to reopen Georgia - the first state in the country to do so.
While he listened to Fauci & parroted media talking points, I listened to hardworking Georgians.
He may not remember, but I sure as hell do.

desantis has no leg to stand on to say trump was wrong because desantis was no better. desantis agreed and shut down for a time, he supported people getting jabs, he has not secured his border and lets illegals in still, carrying who knows what diseases, then he shuttled some of those he let in illegally around? Wrong. I knew in December 2019. There were plenty of voices in the white house asking for reason and to slow down. Trump has doubled down on his lockdowns and big pharma blank checks. He is the prez who did that. Stop fooling yourself. He read the CARES act he signed with VP Fauci.

President Trump was against mandates, was for choice whether to vax or not, and mentioned HCQ and some sort of UV stuff. He was lied about vaccine ingredients and the need for ventilators. He gave us Comfort which wasn’t used. He did everything he could to make us whole again.

I have said for a long time that the first 3 years of the Trump presidency were amazing given the opposition and backstabbing he faced.
His last year was an abject failure. He abdicated his Presidency (and our freedom) to Fauci and sowed the seeds of his own destruction by not securing the election. I give the RNC even lower marks than him on election security.
There is not enough lipstick for the pig that was his last year with Covid. It was a complete disaster but at least he stopped bragging about “warp speed”.
Regardless, as an old man with three teenagers he remains the candidate I trust most to keep my children out of some useless war that enriches the elites and that is my #1 issue for the rest of my voting days.
I am not a fan of Kemp, but he is telling the truth on this one.
