California Assembly Passes Bill to Decriminalize Psychedelic Drugs
Breitbart ^ | 09/07/2023 | Paul Bois

Posted on 09/08/2023 6:49:53 AM PDT by DFG

The Democrat-controlled California state assembly passed a bill that will decriminalize psychedelic drugs for personal use.

“The measure cleared the lower house of the Democratic-controlled state legislature Wednesday, with 42 members voting yes, 13 opposed and 25 not voting. Five of the Assembly’s 13 Republican members joined their Democratic colleagues to vote for the bill,” noted the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

"A broader version of the bill previously passed the state senate. That chamber is expected to pass the final version by next week, sending the measure to Gov. Gavin Newsom,” it added.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has yet to publicly state his position on the matter. If he were to sign the bill, Californians over the age of 21 will be legally allowed to “ingest, possess, cultivate or transport small amounts of psychedelic drugs such as hallucinogenic mushrooms.”

The selling and distribution of such drugs will still remain illegal.

As Breitbart News reported, an article recently published this month in the journal Addiction found that the use of “magic” mushrooms by young adults has nearly doubled in three years along with other hallucinogenic drugs. Roughly 6.6 percent of young adults in 2021 (aged 19 to 30) used hallucinogenic drugs other than LSD, up from 3.4 percent in 2018. Psilocybin, a.k.a. “magic” mushrooms, stood chief among the hallucinogenic drugs used other than LSD. Roughly eight percent of young adults used some kind of hallucinogenic drug in 2021. Men experiment with such drugs at a higher rate than women.

IIRC, LSD was legal in California until sometime in 1967. And it was quite commonly used in Hollywood back in the 1950s and early ‘60s.

I’ve seen the future, I can’t afford it
Tell me the truth sir, someone just bought it
Say mr. whispers! Here come the click of dice
Roulette and blackjacks - gonna build us a paradise
Larger than life and twice as ugly
If we have to live there, you’ll have to drug me

Drugs and Democrats. California now can proceed to become Heaven on Earth. No conservatives to get in the way or to blame.

Imagine for a moment what the California legislature would do if they wanted to hurt desperate people and harm their state . . .

Unlike Marijauna, alcohol etc psychedelics, mostly psilocybin, have great potential for therapeutic use. Over 50 universities have research projects towards its benefits in stopping drug and alcohol addiction, PTSD and many mental disorders.

The catch is that it is SUPERVISED USE not the type stuff sold on the streets

And heroin and marijuana and cocaine have legitimate medical applications in limited contexts.

Even alcohol (which I eschew) has medicinal value. Even the Bible acknowledges it: Prov 31:6-7: Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

But when any of the above become available recreationally, humans become addicted. And legislators who legalize such are irresponsible pimps and whores sacrificing civilization for their own job security.

But for "the other side of the story", we'll shortly see FR's own degenerate addicts (libertarians) show up to defend vending machine narcotics.

Of course I could also say the same about high-carb foods. We know that carbs are very addictive as well, and one of the reasons for the obesity crisis. But the Food Industry and their Government cohorts still push a High-Carb/Low-Fat diet.
