New footage has emerged of the moment Ukrainian troops blasted a Russian helicopter out of the sky while shouting 'Got him!'
A laser-guided Swedish-supplied RBS-70 portable air-defence system gunned down the Ka-52 Alligator helicopter from a field near the village of Robotyne, which Ukraine claims to have liberated as its counter-offensive continues.
In footage of the attack on the helicopter, a fighter is heard shouting 'Shoot!' and seconds later, after the button has been pushed on the shoulder-fired weapon, a jubilant voice yells 'Got him!' followed by expletives.
Smoke can be seen pouring from the aircraft, which is hailed by the Kremlin as 'the world's best helicopter gunship', as a section seems to split from the fuselage before it curls into a nosedive and hits the ground. The video shines a new light on the downing last month in which the pilot was reported to have escaped alive after using the ejector seat.
Ukraine's troops are thought to have pinned down some of Russia's elite soldiers in Donetsk, stopping them from redeploying to a key part of the front line, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said.
Some 49 soldiers of the 7th VDV Division were killed in one day of fighting near the village of Staromayorske, with Russian commanders reportedly not overseeing the retrieval of bodies, the US think-tank said, citing a Russian military blogger who posted an audio recording purportedly from a Russian soldier.

This report can’t be true, because, many other reports say that the Ukrainian army has run out of soldiers and Russia is on the verge of making the invasion pay off. If anybody on the Uke side shot down a helicopter, it must be the new ‘recruited children’ that we hear so much about; or the women recruits

Shot down in a war. War meaning lots of shooting and killing. Humiliation? Perhaps I don’t understand warfare. Because my understanding is warfare is about shooting and killing. That’s on Wednesday. Then on Thursday everyone not killed or hurt on Wednesday gets up and does again on Thursday what was done on Wednesday. Namely shooting and killing. It’s a nasty business to be sure. But one helicopter shot down in the course of this orgey of killing isn’t a Humiliation for Putin nor a great victory for Ukraine. It’s just more shooting and killing.

This report shows the difference in mentality between the west, and Russia. The west counts losses as significant by the single digits. Russia counts losses as significant when they have lost count of how many they have lost. And then they still don’t care.

That’s useful data. MacGregor has been wrong 90% of the time in his predictions about the war in Ukraine. His statement makes it likely that only about 70 Ukrainian soldiers are losing their lives per day in the counter offensive.
