The good news is that Ace Hardware will never have to lock up its work boots.

Locking doors like that could be a violation of the fire code. Especially if it takes the cops a couple of hours to show up.
To survive, these stores are going to have to go to a kiosk mode. Have, say, 20 kiosks located near the front of the store. Customers use a touch-screen to place their order. Some guy in the back fills the order.
Pay and go.

I don’t mind shopping at ACE mostly they are well staffed, the sales people actually have a clue too.
I just wish they would not charge 25% more than the home on the down low stores

Some jewelry stores have locked doors, a doorbell and a phone number to call. Inside are four workers with smiles. I asked a worker why her store had locked doors and a doorbell. She said thefts for jewelry stores are daily, locked doors are necessary, and her business is increasing. Maybe supermarkets will have to do the same at jewelry stores.

The good news is that Ace Hardware will never have to lock up its work boots. Or Fathers' Day cards.

Here in Tulsa, a guy who runs a restaurant was stealing stuff from Sam's via a scan and run app. He was filling his basket full and only scanning some of the items. He says he's innocent.
Self serve is tailor made for theft. One might think.
Tally's Cafe owner Talal Jamil Alame was arrested and charged with six counts of larceny according to court documents.
The documents say four of the charges are misdemeanors for stealing under $1000 while the other two are felonies. The charges stem from 19 incidents at different Sam's Clubs.
According to the affidavit, Alame used the Scan and Go feature on the Sam's Club app at stores in Owasso and Tulsa scanning a few items and leaving the rest not scanned. It says he walked out of the store with multiple items that he did not purchase. Store officials started looking into it and involved police when employees said it appeared Alame had more items in his cart than on his receipt. Investigators used digital receipts and surveillance videos to look into the claims.

Isn’t Stop and Shop the same grocery store in the NE? Why no problems in NYC?
To: mabarker1
Looters, rioters and arsonists should be shot on sight. The problem would resolve itself, quickly.

As well as A-10 Warthogs on the border. A few live fire strafing runs would stop the invasion posthaste.

Maybe DC DAs let shoplifters get away with more. Of course, there’s Alvin Bragg in NYC, but I don’t think Stop and Shop has many stores in Manhattan.

I feel bad for the store owners and staff as they are the victims. When the residents lose their stores many of us don’t give a damn, they voted for it.Indeed they did.

"Customers use a touch-screen to place their order. Some guy in the back fills the order."
Go a step further. The "screen" is your phone. You place your order at home. The store fills your order, you drive to the store, they bring it to your car in the parking lot and they put it in your car trunk. Or you can pay them to deliver it to your house.
There must have been ten cars at Walmart yesterday picking up their orders at the same time.
