‘Monkey dust’ drug unleashes ‘zombie’-like addicts in small town: ‘Like they have superpowers’
NY Post ^ | 9-5-23 | Marc Lallanilla

Reports of “monkey dust” coming in from former industrial towns across the United Kingdom have residents terrified.

Drug-crazed addicts eating shards of glass. People jumping off tall buildings. Superhuman “Hulks” overpowering police.

These are allegedly the results of people high on “monkey dust,” a synthetic drug with effects similar to amphetamines that have become a scourge of small-town Britain.

“I got into dust, monkey dust, lost everything, and now I’m on the floor,” said one addict, formerly employed as a plumber but now living in a tent.

“I’m still taking dust. It’s all we do all day, rush around, try … to get hold of dust, because it’s so addictive,” he said, as quoted in the Evening StandaMonkey dust — also referred to as “zombie dust” — is a synthetic cathinone, a stimulant with effects similar to amphetamine or bath salts, speeding up messages between the brain and the body.

The purest form of the drug is a chemical compound known as methylenedioxypyrovalerone, but because monkey dust is cooked up in illegal labs, there’s no way of knowing what other drugs or impurities it might contain.rd.

We could end the drug problem in this country. No need for executions like they do in Singapore. 6 months in prison. That would stop the recreational functionary users and the crime that goes with it. The jail space would be hard to come by. How about 6 months worth of weekend labor? Tearing down abandoned buildings by hand and recycling stuff?

Methylenedioxypyrovalerone is what they were calling bath salts ten or fifteen years ago.

I assume this article isn’t treating it as something new.

I think that was one of Superman’s villainous opponents. You had to say his name backwards to make him disappear.

The CDC is gearing up for immediate action as we speak, to change the name from Monkey Dust to something less offensive to those who may be offended by the work monkey.

Addiction: seen for different chemicals, different times...the modern ones destroy the inner biochemical functions in the brain. Alcohol was bad enough, but...

“They have struck me, but I was not hurt,
They have beat me, but I did not feel it,
When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”
Proverbs 23:35

Reporters have no historical perspective and treat any story (old hat or not) as a commodity to get people to read their report. Bath salt or bath salt derivative is old hat, so they give it a new street name.
Drugs = slow maiming, or suicide.

You had to make him say his name backwards. Somehow, Supes figured out a way to do it.

IIRC, tricked him into being a cheerleader at a big game. Someone would hold up signs with nonsense words and he’d lead the crowd in saying them.
