President Donald Trump has long been an advocate of school choice, and in a second term, he has promised to be a “champion” for Americans who are choosing to homeschool their children in record numbers.

In a new video posted to Truth Social, Trump stated, “As president, it was my honor to support America’s homeschool families and to protect the God-given right of every parent to be the steward of their children’s education.”

The president noted that since the onset of Covid, there has been an “estimated 30 percent increase in homeschool enrollment.”

He called the choice to homeschool “courageous” and pledged to do everything he could as president again in a prospective 2025 Trump administration to support homeschool families.

To every Homeschool Family, I WILL BE YOUR CHAMPION!

He explained, “Under the Trump Tax Cuts, we allowed families to use 529 education savings accounts to spend up to $10,000 per year, tax-free, on tuition for grades K-12. This was a tremendous win for school choice…and yet that benefit did not apply to homeschoolers.”

In a second term, the president vowed he would “immediately” fight for homeschool families to receive the same benefits as any other child, including up to $10,000 to spend per child “completely tax free to spend on costs associated with homeschool education.”

He also pledged that he would work to ensure that all homeschool students would have full access to benefits available to “non-homeschool” students, such as “participating in athletic programs, clubs, after-school activities, educational trips, and more.”

According to the National Home Education Research Institute, between 2020 and 2021, there were roughly 3.7 million homeschool students in American. Since then, that number has been rapidly expanding.

“To every homeschool family: I WILL BE YOUR CHAMPION,” Trump declared. “DO NOT vote Democrat. They are looking to destroy you, if you don’t mind me saying that!”

He quipped, “Do not vote Democrat, do not vote for Crooked Joe. Vote for Honest Donald – thank you very much!”

President Trump can save a lot of our money AND champion homeschooling by completely dismantling the unconstitutional Department of Education. I pray he does that when he returns to his rightful place as POTUS.

Yep. Even right-thinking school boards are hamstrung by federal (and state) regulations, and “golden-handcuffed” to federal and state $$$$.

If families feel home schooling is necessary, something is wrong.

My father was a wealthy man who ran about a dozen businesses. I was sent to public schools to understand what potential employees could be expected to do.

Maybe he can do what DeSantis is already doing.

Maybe this would be a more important vow than the vow he made last time about CC reciprocity.

I sure hope not. DeSantis is fading like the invisible man.

He doesn't understand the issue. Most people don't understand it.

In our state, we paid a fortune in school taxes. But, when Republicans offered tax benefits for homeschooling, we all said no thanks.

Why? Because tax benefits only invite government oversight and restrictions.

He needs legislation to do that Carter signed it into existence October 1980. You need legislation to get rid of it. I think it the smallest employee-wise of the federal departments something like 3500 employees. It would almost be worthwhile to simply fund their salaries if they agree to sit at home and do nothing. Move all other monies that flow through it as block grants to the states.

The gop had the chance of a lifetime to destroy and get rid of the department of education. Instead, they were at the front of the line in sending kids back to failing schools during covid. Covid was the chance to change everything with education.

As a former school board member, I can state unequivocally that there are many moving parts here. It’s not as simple as getting rid of the department of Ed or not taking federal dollars. Typically Federal $ make up around 10% of a district’s budget. 10% of the budget, 100% of the rules. Also problematic is that all states that adopted Common Core programs back around 2010 sold their souls to corporate America. Wiggling out of statutory guidelines will be difficult. At that time under Obama, the radical leftist David Coleman took over the reins of the College Board and installed college requirements straight from the Marxist agenda. To get into college required a whole new world view. Finally, most school boards recognize the complexities of taking on the state and federal governments and in many cases good people on these boards realize the gargantuan task ahead. Public AND private education are chained to this model. Home school is the only solution as of now.

Exactly! I’ve been saying the same thing. Republicans missed an opportunity in 2020.

Public school is an example of big government: Children are required to attend. Parents are threatened with truancy charges if they don’t send their children. Homeowners are forced to pay ever-increasing school taxes. And Republicans complain that leftist ideology is pushed there.

But, when the schools were shut down in 2020, Republicans screamed to open them again.

Wow, I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or laughably ignorant.

Great job if it’s the former.

I wish there was a way to return public education to the local jurisdiction.
