“It is an ill wind that blows no man to good,” as the proverb says. In the case of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, one might add a much-abused adverb: literally.
Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida this week, bad news for everybody living in Florida except for one man: Ron DeSantis, who in the past has shown that this sort of everyday executive work — governor stuff — is something that he is pretty good at.
Taking time off from his recent political shtick, DeSantis was on the phone with President Biden while members of his administration were negotiating with their federal counterparts to get FEMA to pick up a larger share of the recovery costs than the usual 75 percent.
Some 40,000 utility workers were mobilized to get the lights back on where powerlines were down.
Florida’s post-hurricane work has been methodical and effective. (Oh, and the Governor’s Mansion was almost destroyed by a falling oak tree.)

I can definitely see Ron in the Oval Office.
All he had to do was support MAGA in 2024 and run in 2028, but noooooooo.
I don’t…..but he governs well when he works at the job we gave him.
I agree. He the best man for the job. An adult
I’m sure Trump will invite him to visit.
He’s a fabulous governor...and should stay same and not let hubris and ambition get ahead of him.
Williamson needs to unlock his lips from DeathSantis' ass.
If he can avoid giggling like a school girl, while trying to glom onto supporters possibly.
Don’t think so. By 2028, Byron Donalds will likely be FL. Gov.
After he has served his term as President, it will be Governor Trump. Then, Mayor Trump. Then school board trustee Trump.
But what if Trump wins in 2024? Then he has to wait until 2032, right?
No. 2028 would be the date for DeSantis, if Trump becomes President. You can only serve two terms, even if they are non-consecutive.
p.r. by the anti-trump murdocks...
Insurance companies are stopping coverage and leaving the state.
Property insurance rates have increased as much as 50% from last year’s premiums, and auto insurance has had increases of about 30%.
People are losing their insurance policies, and are being priced out of insurance and desanctimonious isn’t trying to do anything about it.
Im glad he was outed long before 2028. All credit due to him for his performance in Fla.
He can wait until Hell freezes over as far as I am concerned.
He proved he was a remote-controlled Bush/Rove robot when he stabbed Trump in the back.
typo - should be murdoch, not murdock,
I could as well.
Sadly, if you believe the polls, a majority of Republican primary voters have not yet gotten tired of losing.
How did he stab Trump in the back?
He endorsed Trump wholeheartedly in 2020, resulting in Trump winning Florida by an even greater margin than he did in 2016.
And a few days before the 2022 midterm elections, Trump, out of nowhere, decided to slap the "DeSanctimonious" nickname on DeSantis. He did no campaigning for DeSantis in Florida yet DeSantis would get himself re-elected in a massive landslide.
Trump is a sad little man who will never set foot in the White House again.
I don’t waste my time on abject liars.
