Ron DeSantis did what he does best during Hurricane Idalia: Govern
NY Post ^ | 2 Sep 2023 | Kevin D Williamson

“It is an ill wind that blows no man to good,” as the proverb says. In the case of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, one might add a much-abused adverb: literally.

Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida this week, bad news for everybody living in Florida except for one man: Ron DeSantis, who in the past has shown that this sort of everyday executive work — governor stuff — is something that he is pretty good at.

Taking time off from his recent political shtick, DeSantis was on the phone with President Biden while members of his administration were negotiating with their federal counterparts to get FEMA to pick up a larger share of the recovery costs than the usual 75 percent.

Some 40,000 utility workers were mobilized to get the lights back on where powerlines were down.

Florida’s post-hurricane work has been methodical and effective. (Oh, and the Governor’s Mansion was almost destroyed by a falling oak tree.)

You honestly think the Dems and their henchmen will allow DeSantis to win? They will do the same thing to Ron that they're doing to Trump right now.

You're on point, and it's already happened. Supposedly Ron won in '22 by some huge margin - that alone is suspicious (for any Republican). They let him sleep in the Governor's Mansion though - I wonder why???

Keep the historical perspective. First in the Steal of 2012 Obama cheated Mitt out of the Presidency.

Four years later, in the Steal of 2016 the Deep State underestimated President Trump and didn't flip enough votes. Although President Trump pulled out an electoral victory, he was cheated of victory in the popular vote by over 5 million Frauds.

Even before that, in the Iowa Steal President Trump had to contend with the worst Fraud - Fraud from within. In Iowa, Ted Cruz fraudulently stole the primary.

The Steal of 2020 is old news and well covered - the weather satellites, the Cyber Ninjas, the CCP Packet Captures, the Dominion Algorithm, the GA Elections workers caught on camera smoking crack and inserting USB, the Mules operating out of the Liberal Charities that Rama specifically identified- it's endless.

That's the short version. Kari Lake and many others have experienced and proved Fraud. America is a corrupt, 3rd world hell hole. We were spoiled with greatness for a couple years - we will never experience it again. Around us, the darkness gathers as the Deep State prepares the train to Guantanamo.

Only President Trump cares. He descended from His Golden Mansion to bear the slings and arrows for the American People. His Bold Stories will be taught in history books. He is being indicted for all of us.

It is really comical and priceless to see Trump supporters here whining about name-calling when 99.9% of the name-calling by Freepers is by Trump supporters. And shall we talk about the garbage they post here, maybe some are paid by the post but it’s beyond ridiculous.

Trump failed to effectively defend his win in 2020. He hired poor lawyers and didn’t pay for recounts when he should’ve. So the loss is on him and old news. We don’t need a revenge campaign, the country won’t go for it, and all of the name-calling and whining only further limits Trump to a die hard core group of people, which will not be enough to win the election in 2024.

The polls that show Trump surging among independents, Gen-Z, blacks, and women yet only beating Biden by a point or 2 don’t make any sense mathematically.

********************

The only way it makes sense mathematically, is if a large number of white males are going into 2024 voting Biden/Harris.
In this country, there are plenty of beta males who think like feminists and embrace fag culture, but IMO not enough to swing this difference.

The only other group in the electorate that could pull that kind of swing off, would be if voters 65+ abandon Trump.

So true and just a shame. He could have helped lset up a 12 year rebuild. He had the wind in his sales and was a constant example of how effective a conservative Governor can be. But then he took the meeting with the GOPe.

What is a governor supposed to do about insurance when insurance is based on actuarial tables and not on whims?

Just get a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle.

The control freak leftists show themselves all the time.

It isn’t worth your time to argue, they are marxist freaks and yes, they live on FR.

You will notice it is the same players time after time.

Props for knowing the word actuarial. Obviously it's not that simple. The Allowed Cost is half the calculation which depends on Federal and State regulations.

For example, about half of states provide benefits for hearing aids. There are many policy positions that effect healthcare costs.

They don't care.

When Trump loses-yet again- he will go all in on his lame "We was robbed! shtick--again. And once again his devotees will twist themselves into a human pretzel to try to rationalize his BS.

But more and more Trump is preaching to the choir. And the choir is smaller this time than it was in 2020. Already he's been reduced to shaking down the little MAGA grannies to refurbish his plane and pay his lawyers. We're even seeing Trump personally hawking t-shirts with his mugshot on it. Sham-Wows with his likeness should be out soon. "Get yours today!"

When Trump blows it again in 2024, that's it. He can't raise money. What he is raising is going towards legal fees. His Save America PAC is broke. And he's a guaranteed loser in the general election.

After he loses again in 2024, the inevitable circular firing squad will begin. In 2 years, even here on Free Republic, you will be hard pressed to find anybody he will admit to have ever supported Donald Trump.

“He hired poor lawyers and didn’t pay for recounts when he should’ve.”

Recounts are a trap. Recounting the same illegitimate ballots will of course give the same result and have the affect of reinforcing the legitimacy of the original results. That is what happened in Ga. No effort was made to weed out tainted ballots so of course the results were the same and that rat mole SOS made sure of it.

The beautiful thing about Free Republic is once you hit post, it's here forever.

No future editing. No future deleting.

Which is why I'm always mystified when people slander me as a NeverTrumper. I'm like, "Dude, I voted for him twice. I supported him enthusiastically in 2016. Go look at my posting history. It's all there!"

So what you are saying is that because Trump engages in infantile name calling, its off limits for his supporters to call out individuals for the same infantile antics. So we are all subject to the confines here of the cult of personality. No. Doesn’t work that way. My support of Trump is his America First policies. He governed on them before and he is running on them now. Its why he has my support.

Lambasting infantile boorish name calling has been done over and over with Trump both here and on other social media as well as the national media. Two wrongs are still two wrongs. Your side is not granted a pass especially the moral high ground one. I don’t name call. I argue asserting my points with passion. I’ve never made this personal. Your side, in my experience, has. Over and over again.

So, If you are going to insult me at least do so honestly.

Comical and Priceless? I just find it sad really that supposed Conservative people who love our country resort to making these political arguments personal. And they attack not the issue but the person.

Whining? I suppose it sounds like it. Actually what the personal attacks do is demonstrate the true lack of character behind the conservative facade. And i would remind you and everyone here on both sides of Trump DeSantis, not two months ago, The name calling and the attacks became so hostile that Jim Robinson had to issue a statement to the entire site. Whining? Comical? I don’t think so.

A lot of people need to wake up and pull together instead of focusing on tearing each other apart. I doubt my warnings will be headed though and the rift will never be healed.
