Angry Indians: Yet another instance of Native Americans having it up to here with the left: It's their land. Why shouldn't they be able to develop it as they see fit?

It's their land. Why shouldn't they be able to develop it as they see fit?Because they deserve the white man's $$$ because of all the atrocities white man perpetrated against them, not realizing in their race to punish whitey, they are placing themselves squarely under the thumb of federal regulation. Tribes are NOT sovereign, despite claims to the contrary. One sovereign does not have to ask another sovereign permission to do something with their own land.

It’s a modernized feudal system. As long as we vassals pay the lairds the required taxes, we get to stay. It’s an abomination in the “land of the free”.

The loser of the war does not dictate to the winner. In most cases and with most tribes they did not loose a war. They signed a treaty with the US government.
Suckers.

I donot get how/why indians (yes, indians, small case like whites. And, not native A’s) think Democrats should treat them better. What, they don’t realize that to any Democrat an indian is simply a red(ish) N***?
Demos are racists, ‘cause it makes it easier to bully anyone not in their group.
A significant problem with development on tribal land is that in most cases a small business loan from the feds is forbidden.

Boy, is that a tough one! Short answer: no, they don't. They can't even sell the land unless it's what is sometimes "allotment land", but basically means privately owned and not granted by the federal government (who hold the land in trust because poor injuns can't do anything without the *liberal* white man saving them, dontcha know).
Think of it this way: remember that stink about the states being allowed to use the resources on the state's land that is a "federally protected"? Apply that here. That's a huge oversimplification, but gives you an easy way of seeing things.

Just another reminder that everyone is just a serf on the government’s land. To do anything on your land you must have permission and don’t forget to pay your rent or the government will turn you out.

Of course the fact that a company can angle drill for that oil from outside the reservation has nothing to do with it.

The res system is basically designed for maximum convenience and power for the US/ state government. So anything that would be annoying for the government is the tribe’s “responsibility”. Anything that would empower them, they don’t get to say. So they have to provide their own police, but “we” get to decide if they can drill.
