But that’s only for one day.
Strange.
I did, however, notice that when I flew ElAl to Israel...we had Orthodox on our plane. When we arrived to Tel Aviv..the plane was littered with trash on the floor. I just shrugged and thought they weren’t to interact with stewardesses coming around to collect trash.
I think we have FReepers who are Orthodox who may can answer.

It all depends on what the meaning of “work” is.
Seriously.

That was my experience the first time I hauled Afghan nationals in my C-130 in Afghanistan. After that I made sure their interpreter told them to take all their garbage with them when disembarking. Must be a cultural thing.

I just shrugged and thought they weren’t to interact with stewardesses coming around to collect trash. Almost certainly, the Orthodox Jews on that El Al flight were mostly families with little kids. Little kids have occasionally been known to throw stuff on the floor. There are often groups of Orthodox or non-Orthodox teens on planes headed to Israel as well. They might not be so fastidious in disposing properly of their trash. And of course, can you PROVE that the trash on the airplane floor was placed there by Orthodox passengers at all?

I had a boss for many years who is Orthodox. He was infamous for going through the mail and tossing the junk mail towards the trash at my desk…often missing the trash can and landing at my feet. He was completely oblivious. I would give him the stink eye and a loud throat clearing and he would then pick it up and actually put it in the trash. But the next day was the exact same thing. And the next.
I finally stopped with my stink eye and throat clearing and just let him do it. Every few days, I would pick it all up and take it into his office and throw it on the floor next to his trashcan. :)
I love him to death, and in his case, I’m quite sure it’s a guy thing… Not an Orthodox thing. I’m sure his wife would be mortified.
